Fact 1 |
|
According to the editor of The Luptonian, "On January 26, 1984, THE LUPTONIAN received a phone call from Ms. Sylvia Lowry.... She is a professional genealogist and was working on a family line for a client. .......She informed us that there was a Thomas Lupton who owned land in 1649 in Branford, Conn. He had two children - a Thomas Lupton and a Christopher Lupton. It is our understanding that Thomas went to the New Haven or Norwalk area and Christopher went to Southampton, L.I., New York.".2 |
Note |
|
According to Richard Hook, his source for the earliest Luptons was Ms Sylvia Lowry of New Haven, a genealogist. Her information was that "In the early 1630's a Thomas Lupton of England arrived in Boston with two sons Thomas and Christopher. They did not remain in Boston most likely due to the unrest caused by conflicting religious procedures in the rite of baptism......
after a short time in Boston, the Luptons migrated to Wethersfield where they remained for another brief period before proceeding to Branford, where they were proprietary settlers, and New Haven. .........
Eventually Thomas Jr married a New Haven Girl, Hannah Morris..... Thomas' brother Chirstopher, prior to 1650 migrated and settled in North Sea, Southampton, Long Island, New York (which at that time was owned by Connecticut.) He maried Lydia Raynor and raised 9 children.1 " |
