Betrothal of Mildred H. Woods, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, William Woods, 262 North Gallatin avenue, to Guy B. Widmeyer, Jr., son of Mr, and Mrs. Guy B. Widmeyer Sr., 28 Phillippi avenue, was revealed at a recent announcement party in the home of the bride-elect's parents.
News of the engagement was told in tiny scrolls, tied with white ribbons, each inscribed with the nuptual secret: “Betrothed, Millie and Guy".
Spring appointments were lovely in yellow and green, with a mound of daisies centering the table where covers were placed for the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. John Glister, Markleysburg, Mr, and Mrs. Gustave Weinschenker, of Brown's Mill, N. Y.; Charles Roebuck, Carolyn Woods, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Widemeyer, Ruth Frew, Ross Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John Gillis and the bridal couple-elect, Mildred H. Woods an Guy B. Widmeyer, Jr.
Miss Woods is a member of the Class of 1950, Uniontown Senior High school, and will be graduated in June.
Mr. Widmeyer, a graduate of Uniontown Senior High, 1948, is associated in business with his father in the Woody Plumbing & Heating Company, Morgantown street.
The wedding is expected to be an event of the near future.

Mr. and Mrs. Guy Widmeyer Jr. of Markleysburg are announcing the birth of their first child, a son in Uniontown Hospital at 1:22 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The new arrival weighed eight pounds, three ounces. Mrs. Widmeyer is the former Mildred Woods, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Woods, 481 Braddock Ave. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wedmeyer Sr., Phillipi Ave.

Mr. an Mrs. Ronald H. Basescu are residing in Addison following their recent marriage in the Wharton Furnace Union Chapel near Farmington.
The double ring ceremony was performed by Dr. Earl P. Confer.
The new Mrs. Basescu is the former Mildred H. Widmeyer and is daugter of Mr. and Mrs. William Woods of 54 W. Askren St., Uniontown.
Mr. Basescu, a staff writer for The Evening Standard, is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene J. Basescu of Connellsville.
