News/Obit* 3 October 2000  Mary Faye Hansen Lauffer

RICHFIELD, UT-- Our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Faye Hansen Lauffer , 82, passed from this life Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000. She is now rejoicing with her son, James Dennis "Jimmy" Brown and her husband, Joseph Jacob Lauffer , who have preceded her in death.

Faye was born to Mary Hansen and James Andrew Hansen, in Logan, Utah, August 1, 1918. She grew up in Newton, Utah and Bancroft, Idaho, with two older brothers, Sidney and Lester

Faye was an LPN and received many honors for her innovative ways of improving conditions for her patients. She was president of the BPW in Blackfoot, Idaho and solicited their help to paint drab green iron beds a new dusty rose color. She dyed curtains to match. She liked things to be neat, beautiful and cheery.

She loved music and played the saxophone. When her son Jimmy was a radio announcer, she'd call and ask him to play her favorite song "Melody of Love." She was sweet and thoughtful. A dedicated and devoted mother and grandmother, her life was truly a life of service.

Faye loved animals and in her later years, had many cats and dogs. She called them her "other babies."

She had a cute sense of humor and a quick wit. Her life was devoted to caring for and supporting her family and friends. She had a deep love for the Savior and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A special thanks to Dr. Brown and the Richfield Care Center staff, for their gentle and loving care of our mother. We will all miss her enthusiastically saying, "Praise the Lord"

Faye is survived by a daughter, Sonnia Mary (Robert) Bahrs of Los Altos, CA; daughter-in-law, Shirley Sorenson Brown (Kent) Charlesworth of Richfield, Utah; grandchildren, James Errol, Michael, Donna, David, James Farrell, Rosemary, Jody, Scott; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand-children; sister-in-law, Edries N. Hansen of Newton, Utah.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah.
