Notes

Buckingham County Virginia Alvis in Personal Property Tax Lists, 1782 to 1863:
Alvis, Edmond. 1801, 1802, 1804, 1805.
Census History of Edmund Alvis:
1820 Smith Co. TN: 300010/11010
1840 Sumner Co. TN: 000200001/
1850 Macon Co. TN: Edmund Alvis, 72 b VA; Phebe, 68 b VA, Arra, 28 b TN; James 27, b TN; Melinda, 19 b TN.
1860 Macon Co. TN: Edmund, age 83, in household of James B. Alvis.

The 1850 Census source only names 3 children, Arra, James, and Melinda. The 1820 & 1840 censuses indicate the older children. Elizabeth and William Carroll appear to be Edmund's oldest children. David is a guess.

For documents relating to this family, see The Alvis Exchange, 5-8, 15-2,3, 16-1, 2, 17-1, 24-3, 29-5, 32-3 and 36-1.

Data relating to Edmund's probable brothers and sisters and their children are found in The Alvis Exchange, 15-1, 17-3, 30-4, 5, 6, 33-4 and 34-8.
