Before the war

When he enlisted, he was a clerk (6).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 8-3/4 inches tall, and had a light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair (6).

During the war

The pension index by regiment refers to Joseph Gregor [?], who served in company I of the 121st Pennsylvania Infantry (9).

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 9 September 1861 (1, 4, 6, 7, 9). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain McAuther (6). He was mustered in as fourth corporal in company G (1, 4, 12-13).

He was promoted to fifth sergeant on 1 December (probably 1 December 1862) (4).

He was wounded on 3 May 1863 at Chancellorsville, Virginia (1, 2, 10 [wounded in shoulder and leg], 11 [shoulder and leg]).

He was discharged at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 12 November 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9). He was a sergeant in company G (1, 3, 7 (orderly sergeant), 12-13 (sgt)).

After the war

On 2 January 1864, he applied successfully for a pension (8, 9).

In 1890, he was living in Cinnaminson Township, Burlington County, New Jersey (post office: Palmyra) (7). He had been wounded in the right shoulder and thigh at Chancellorsville (7).

He died on 11 January 1925, at Spring City, [Chester County,] Pennsylvania (9).
