Note: Gilbert Hendlisz skips this generation, and gives Rabbi Yehuda Lieb as the son of Rabbi Chaim of Konin. While "The Eskeles Genealogy" book by Zeev Eshkolot omits Rabbi Yehuda Lieb and places his children directly here. Rabbi Gabriel ben Yehuda LOEW-ESKELES of Krakow Born: 1655 in Krakow, Poland. Died: Feb 4, 1718 in Mikulov (Nikolsburg), Moravia, Czech geni + Esther Hadassa (see HESHEL family)

Note: Gabriel was a Rabbi of Nikolsburg and took his father-in-law's name Heschel's (Eskeles being a corruption of Esheles)

Moshe Moses ESCALES-LOEW Born: bef. 1750 in Vienna + Breunle BRUELL (BRUEHL-BREELENSON) Died: bef 1805. Moses moved to Fuerth then Schwabach, and then Grunstadt and finally Zweibrucken. He adopted the Escales name instead of Eskeles in 1808 Grunstadt under the French regime and was a prosperous business man. His descendants in Zweibrucken also proved to be successful and prosperous in industry. They had a well known silk and plush factory

Rabbi Bernard Gabriel ESKELES"aka Berusch Isachar" Born: 1691 in Olkusz. Married: 1707 in Vienna. Died: Mar 2, 1753 in Vienna *ref + Chava Rebekka (see WERTHEIMER family) Born: 1691 Died: Aug 31, 1749 in Vienna *see also external tree

Note: Bernard was Av beit din of: Kremsier at the age of 18 (1710-1719), Prossnitz, and Mainz (starting 1717). Kur-Mainzer-Landesrabbiner. Succeeded his Samson Wertheimer (1658 Worms - 1724 Wien)father, Rabbi Gabriel Eskeles, as av beit din Nikolsburg and as Moravian Landesrabbiner, and in 1725 also his father-in-law Samson Wertheim as Hungarian Ober- und Landesrabbiner. He settled in 1719 in Vienna as court purveyor, supplying arms and other commodities. Using his influence in the court, he prevented the expulsion of Jews from Moravia in 1741. He established the Eskeles Foundation for Torah which taught Torah to children and provideddowries for brides. The foundation continued to operate in Brno (Bruenn) until the 1930s *see Bernard on encyclopedia

*2nd wife of Bernard Eskeles: Hanna WERTHEIMER (b. 1725 m. 1749/50 - ). In the year of his death (1753), their household included 42 persons including his wife, 2 daughters, and 28 servants with 6 children
