Mrs. Poindexter, 87, Dies at Oplin
BAIRD (RNS) � Mrs. Florence Poindexter, pioneer resident of the Oplin community, died at 9:30 am Monday after a lengthy illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Phil Yost of Oplin. She was 87.

Funeral will be held at 3 pm Tuesday at the Oplin Church of Christ with George Snure, pastor of the Baird Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery near Oplin with Wylie Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Poindexter, who had 168 descendants, was born June 16, 1871 in Scyler County, Iowa. She had lived in the Oplin community for 56 years. Her husband, John N. Poindexter, a Confederate soldier in the Civil War, died in 1916.
Poindexter had been a member of the Church of Christ 75 years.

Surviving are six sons, Robert and Melton, both of Casa Grande, Ariz., Tom and Bulen, both of Oplin, John and Mart, both of Baird; four daughters, Mrs. Veda Russell of Abilene, Mrs. Phil Yost of Oplin, Mrs. Ellie Neal and Mrs. Amie Gorman, both of Baird; one sister, Mrs. Mae Underhill of San Francisco, Calif.; 56 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  Four sons preceded her in death. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
