Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for local resident Carl Jackson Walkup, age 79. Rev. Dan Willson of the Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Jack, as he was better known, was born April 5, 1924 in Fairfax, Mo. and died Jan. 7, 2004 in Newport Beach.
Jack was a veteran of World War II, having served as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Div., earning several medals. He was a teacher at Bishop Union High School from 1951 to 1981. He loved gardening and listening to good
music.
He and his wife were residents of Bishop for 42 years prior to moving to Dewey, Ariz. in 1993. The couple moved back to Bishop in 2001 due to Jack's declining health and desire to be closer to family.
