The following is a copy of a handwritten Biographic Memoranda by Peters grand daughter, Elizabeth Eichar Lake. She wrote about seven generations that she had known and it was written about 1870.

My Grand-father on my Fathers side Peter Eichar was born in the year 1742 in the Principality of Eichstadt in Germany - we have no farther written record. - Tradition says that his Father was Prince of Eichstadt, and that as its location was on the border of Austria the king troubled him about subjugating it to his dominions. -The Prince had heard glowing accounts of Wm Penns Colony in the New World. He came to the conclusion that he might live in peace there, accordingly he settled up the affairs of the Principality honorably and gathered all that he had together, with his wife and two children named Peter and Barbary - and left Germany forever intending to make his home in Wm Penn's colony. When the ship was about mid Ocean the Prince and his wife both died and were buried at sea. - Tradition further says that the Captain of the ship was suspected of poisoning them - as they were known to have been rich.

When they landed at Philadelphia nothing of the propery of the late Prince was to be found - The children were provided with homes in Philadelphia. My Grandfather himself told me there were both favored by getting into good houses with kind Quaker families - where they were well taken care of, and sent to English schools - in his home Peter was taught to prize his Bible, the only relic they had of what was once their Fathers, and which contained the record of their births - It was a copy of Luther's version bound in iron and wood., it was almost as much as I could lift when I was quite a large girl. - When Peter's time was up in Philadelphia he went up to Little York, Pa. where he hired himself to a man (I forgot his name) who owned a mill and a saw mill - here he did well, and after a time he was taken into partnership - every thing was looking prosperous with him, and he sent to Philadelphia for his sister Barbary, she came and after a time a young surveyor by the name of James Weaver came there to take up his residence at Little York, he was said to have been a very well educated business man - after a pleasant acquaintance with Miss Barbary Eichar, they were married Peter Eichar was subsequently married to Miss Nancy Smith daughter of John Smith - of whom mention has been made - as has been stated my grandfather moved to Greensburgh Pa. He settled on a large tract of land near town, when he felt himself able to do so he built a fine stone house, here they lived the remaining years of their lives, in the lifetime of my Grandparents the House look'd very grand to me - here they raised a large family of children, five sons and three daughters - The names of the sons were John, Joseph, Peter, Jacob and David, the daughters, Elisabeth, Nancy and Barbary - When one after another they married their father was able to give them a comfortable inheritance round about him - which in after years the most of them sold - and now their childrens children may be found among enterprising men from the boundary of the Great Lakes to California and from Montana to Florida, one of them John Eichar has a gun Factory at Ft. Augustine, Fla. and made guns for the Rebels during the late war! So far as I know this was the only one of my grandfathers decendants who was not a true patriot - my grandfather was proud to tell, that in the war of the revolution there was not a tory among them.
When Elisabeth Eichar was in her fifteenth year Jacob Weaver, Jr. (son of Barbary) came up from Little York to see his Uncle Peter he came all the way across on horseback! he always said he had a delightful visit the time glided imperceptably away- he fell in love with his cousin Elisabeth and before he left for his home the were engaged to be married in a year from that time - which came to pass accordingly - This was a very happy union - Uncle Jacob Weaver was one of natures noblemen, his mind was enrich'd by culture and education he was genial and every way pleasant in his personal appearance, his wife was amiable and gifted in conversational power - The most pleasant visits that I can remember during my childhood and my youth were enjoyed in their hospitable home at Freeport, Armstrong Co. Pa. they had the faculty to make me feel pleased with myself and all the world.
From the time I was able to mar a sheet of paper in shape of a letter this good Uncle and Aunt inspired me with the love of writing to them, - and their letters were were very instructive to me; I have them now among my treasurered things - we kept up this pleasant correspondence while they lived. When I was at Harmony Female Seminary they would frequently come after me on saturday a distance of near twenty miles and bring me back again on Monday A.M. - I was the best acquainted with this Uncle and Aunt and their children of any of my Grandfathers family - I loved them while they lived and affectionately cherished their memory after they had pass'd away, from the shore of time.
My Grandfather was a man who commanded the respect and kind consideration of all who knew him. It has been said of his five sons; with better opportunities not one of them fill'd their Fathers place. He left them a good example - The heritage of an honest industrious life.
