Robert and Ann Maria were my 2nd Great Grandparents.
They had 9 children. These are some small pieces of their story ...

Robert COULTER
( Thomas , Reuben )
Robert COULTER was christened on Monday, 8th May 1837 in Nettlestead, Kent, England.
Robert was the youngest of 9 children for Thomas COULTER and Frances BARHAM.
When he was born, his father Thomas was aged about 36 years and Frances was aged about 42 years.
His siblings were Timothy about 11 years, Thomas about 9 years, Elizabeth about 6 years,
Mary about 3 years and Lewis about 2 years. Three older siblings had died in infancy.
Robert was about 3 years of age, when he migrated on Friday 6th March 1840 with his family,
from Gravesend, London on the sailing ship, CHARLES KERR.
CHARLES KERR was built by Philip Laing, in 1826 at Southwick, Sunderland, England.
The sailing ship weighed 463 tons and it's dimensions were 114'9" x 30'1.5" x 6'10".
The ship was owned by Pirie & Co. and registered in London.
In 1837 in voyaged to Australia with convicts. In 1857 it was hulked at Port Adelaide.
On this particular voyage the ship master was Arnold HARFORD.
On Wednesday 17th June 1840 the CHARLES KERR sailed into Port Adelaide, South Australia,
with 216 passengers. The journey had taken 14 weeks and 5 days.
John COULTER
, Robert's uncle, had made the same journey with his wife, 7 children and 1 grandson.That day, 18 (maybe 20) COULTERs migrated into South Australia.
The families most probably celerated Robert's 3rd birthday during the long voyage.
Ann Maria RIDGWELL
( George )
Ann Maria RIDGWELL was christened on Thursday, 21st Febuary 1839 in Tolleshunt Major, Maldon, Essex, England.
Ann Maria was the 4th of 8 children for George RIDGWELL and Ann Maria RUSH.
When she was born George RIDGWELL was aged about 31 years, and her mother was about 30 years of age.
Her siblings were John aged about 9 years, George aged about 7 years and James aged about 2 years.
PRINCE REGENT. was built in 1811 in Frindsbury, Kent, England.
The sailing ship weighed 395 tons and it's dimensions were 109'9" x 28'8" x 5'8".
The ship was owned by Buckle & Co. and registered in London, England.
On this particular voyage, the ship master was William EVANS.
On Wednesday, 25th September 1839, the PRINCE REGENT. sailed into Holdfast Bay, South Australia,
with 199 passengers. There had been 23 deaths during the 15 weeks and 6 day voyage.

Robert COULTER married Ann Maria RIDGWELL
on Wednesday, 29th April 1857,
in the St George Church of England, Gawler, South Australia.
Robert was 19 years of age and a farmer living at Coulter's Farm near Smithfield.
Ann Maria was 18 years of age and living at Smith's Creek, Smithfield.
The witnesses were Emma BAKER, living at Smith's Creek, Gawler Mews, and
Timothy COULTER, a farmer from Smithfield. He was most probably, Robert's oldest brother.
Robert and Maria lived in South Australia for the next few years, maybe with their parents or older siblings.
There are no records of any children being born in South Australia.
Robert and Ann Maria moved to Pleasant Creek, Victoria.
They probably travelled with Robert's brother Timothy, or Ann Maria's father, or maybe both.
All three families had a child born in Pleasant Creek in consectative months from May 1862.
Robert And ANN Maria's first known child was
Robert Thomas COULTER, born Wednesday, 7th May 1862 in Pleasant Creek Victoria.
The birth was registered by his mother on Monday 2nd June, 26 days later.
Robert COULTER died on 4th October 1887 in Nhill Hospital, Victoria.
Robert was aged 50 years. The cause of death was "Phthisis" and Exhaustion.
Robert COULTER was buried on 6th October 1887 in Nhill Cemetery.
Known occupations were farmer and bullock driver.
He resided Smithfield in South Australia and Pleasant Creek, Horsham and Nhill in Victoria.
Ann Maria COULTER nee RIDGWELL died on Monday 13th December 1920 in East Freemantle, Western Australia.
Ann Maria was aged about 81 years.
Ann Maria COULTER was buried in Freemantle, Cemetery.

Ann Maria married Stephen THOMPSON in 1882 in Horsham, Victoria.
He was the son of John THOMPSON and Mary O'KEEFE.
Stephen THOMPSON was born in 1866 in Sandhurst, Victoria.
Ann Maria THOMPSON nee COULTER "Annie" died on 27th December 1943 in Mildura, Victoria. "Annie" was aged 79 years.
"Annie" was buried in the Merbein Cemetery.
Stephen THOMPSON died on 6th January 1931 in Merbein, Victoria. Stephen was aged 75 years.
Stephen was buried in the Merbein Cemetery, in a double grave with his wife.
Ann Maria COULTER and Stephen THOMPSON had the following children :
