     Malinda Gorby was born on 11 December 1864 at Bannon, West Virginia. She married John Extrom, son of Magnus Magnusson and Cajsa Stina Gustafsdotter, on 26 February 1888 at Varna, Marshall County, Illinois.² AGED RESIDENT OF WENONA DIES - Services For Mrs. Linnie Ekstrom To Be Held Tuesday. -
Wenona, Oct. 6 - (Special) - In failing health for several months, Mrs. Linnie Ekstrom, 87, resident of Wenona the past 31 years, died at Wenona Rest Haven Saturday night at 11 o'clock. She had been taken there from her home just two days prior to her passing.
The body was removed to the Thierry funeral home, where friends may call until the hour of the service. Final rites will be conducted there at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Dee Walburn of the Methodist church and Rev. Melvin Hedin of Bethany Lutheran church. Interment will be made in the Wenona cemetery.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Cynthia Garby, the decedent was born at Bannon, W. Va., December 11, 1864. She was married at Varna February 26, 1888, to John Ekstrom, who preceded her in death 14 years ago, and they resided in the vicinity of that community until they came to Wenona. Mrs. Ekstrom was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving the aged woman are two daughters, Mrs. Florence Moffett of Downers Grove and Mrs. Minnie Mulvihill of Wenona; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.³ Malinda died on 4 October 1952 at Wenona, Marshall County, Illinois, at age 87.

     Martin B Gorby was born on 28 October 1856 at Pennsylvania.¹

     Sarah Margaret Gorby was born on 18 January 1862.¹

     Thomas Wilson Gorby was born in 1819.¹ He married Cynthia Wade on 8 May 1845 at Tyler County, Virginia. Thomas Wilson Gorby died in March 1879.¹

     Veda Griffin was born in 1897 at Kansas. She married William Rudolph Extrom, son of Jan Petter Magnusson and Christina Moblad, on 5 January 1911 at Pontiac, Livingston County, Illinois. Veda died in 1944. Her body was interred at Swedish Cemetery, Varna, Marshall County, Illinois.

     Brita Gudmensdotter was born in 1719. She married Christopher Olsson. Brita Gudmensdotter and Christopher Olsson appeared on the church records of Thorsby, Sunne Parish, Värmland County, Sweden, between 1757 and 1764. The family now has nine children. When Christopher is called away with the Army for service in northern Poland, the four oldest children live away from home.² She moved to Entetorp at Eveberg in in 1799. She lived with her daughter Kjerstin and her family until her death in 1804.³ Brita died on 18 July 1804 at Entetorp, Sunne Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. Her age is recorded as 85 years..⁴ She was buried on 22 July 1804.⁵

     He married Nancy Cannon.

     John William Daniel Guffey was born on 25 September 1896 at Arkansas. He married Ester Alice Ekstrom, daughter of Carl Gustaf Magnusson and Sophia Amelia Larsson, in 1927. John died on 20 April 1978 at Enid, Oklahoma, at age 81. His body was interred at Pond Creek Cemetery, Grant County, Oklahoma.

     Cajsa Stina Gustafsdotter was born on 21 July 1825 at Faxstad, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.¹ He married Cajsa Stina Gustafsdotter on 27 July 1849 at Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. He was listed as living in Lund, while Cajsa was living in Hoflanda.² She and Magnus Magnusson appeared on the church records of Hoflanda Lervik, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden, between 1871 and 1875. Jan Peter leaves home in Nov 1873 followed by his brother August in Oct 1875. They still live within the parish. Johan returns home 4 Nov 1873 but leaves again in 1875.³ Cajsa Stina Gustafsdotter and Magnus Magnusson immigrated on 26 May 1882 to Varna, Marshall County, Illinois. Cajsa died on 4 June 1916 at Varna, Marshall Co., IL, at age 90.⁴ Her body was interred on 5 June 1916 at Swedish Cemetery, Varna, Marshall County, Illinois. She is buried beside her husband. There are no markers.⁵

     Sara Gustafsdotter was born on 13 December 1821 at Faxstad, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. She was christened the following day..^1,2 She moved to at Kärr, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden, in 1837.³

     Emma Gustafson was born on 15 November 1865 at Småland County, Sweden.¹ She immigrated in 1889 to Illinois.¹ She married Andrew Ekstrom, son of Magnus Magnusson and Cajsa Stina Gustafsdotter, on 23 December 1893 at Varna, Marshall County, Illinois.^2,3 Emma died on 14 September 1933 at Wenona, Marshall County, Illinois, at age 67.^4,5 She was buried on 17 September 1933 at Swedish Cemetery, Wenona, LaSalle County, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. EKSTROM - Large Concourse of Friends and Relatives Attend Final Rites. -
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Andrew Ekstrom were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran Bethany church, Rev. Joseph Hultberg officiating in the presence of a large concourse of sympathizing friends and sorrowing relatives.
A brief service consisting of scripture reading and prayer by the Rev. Karl Nilsson, of Varna, and a solo by Blanche Lindgren, was held at the home at 1:30.
At the church Rev. Hultberg preached the sermon in English and Rev. Mr. Nilsson paid a personal tribute to the character of the deceased in Swedish. A quartet made up of Ruth Monk, Blanche Lindgren and Edward and Clarence Lindgren sang "Jesus Savior Pilot Me." Edward Lindgren contributed a solo in Swedish and George Lindgren sang "The Old Rugged Cross," which never rows old, and never fails to comfort aching hearts.
Rose Gustafson, Dorothy Swanson, Margaret Johnson, Eleanor Nelson, Virginia Mulvihill, Alice Olson and Marjorie Mulvihill, all relatives of the deceased, were flower girls. The pallbearers were Carl Johnson, Harvery Swanson, Henry Gustafson, Leonard Swanson, Harry Gustafson and Gerald Gustafson.
Miss Emma Mathilda Gustafson was born in the province of Smoland, Sweden, November 15, 1865. She came to this country in 1889 and was united in marriage to Andrew Ekstrom, December 23, 1893. To this union eight children were born, dying in infancy. Those who are left to mourn her death are her husband, Andrew Ekstrom; seven children, Alfred, at home, Everett, of Rutland, Mrs. Arthur Peterson, of Lostant, Mrs. Joseph Stenzil, of Rutland; Mrs. William Smith, of Minouk; Mrs. Edward Duden, of Dana, and Mrs. Max Rouscher, of Chicago. Also five son-in-laws, seven grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Ida Swartz, of Flint, Mich; three brother, Emil Gustafson, Rutland; Charles Gustafson, of Esterville, Iowa, and Theodore Gustafson, in Sweden. Two sisters have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ekstrom has been a member of Wenona Bethany church for forty years. She was always a willing and active worker in all church organizations and will be deeply missed by all. She was 67 years and 10 months old. May she rest in peace.

There was a large attendance of friends from nearby towns.⁶

     Christina Gustofsdotter was born in 1685.¹ She married Jon Hansson, son of Hans (?), say 1715. Christina died before 1730.

     Kari Hakamsdotter was born on 13 January 1796 at Najet?, Sunne Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.¹ She married Olof Olofsson, son of Olof Wistman and Cathrina Persdotter, on 26 December 1815 at Sunne Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.^2,3 She moved to in 1816.¹ Kari died in 1823 at Sunne, Värmland, Sweden.⁴

     Margareta Hallorsdotter Margareta's ancestory was checked on film 82165. Her parents and siblings were identified. Her father Hollar was the son of Pehr and wife Christina. The name Hollar is Norwegian. Her siblings include Brigitte, Lars, Olof, Peter, Eric and Katherina. in 1700.¹ She married Nils Errsson on 17 November 1735 at farm Björkhöjden, Bjurtjän Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. Nils was from Såga. They were married at Margareta's home.² Margareta died before 1751 at Bjurtjän Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. Nils inherited the farm Björkhöjden on her death..

     Larom Hansdotter was born in 1715.¹

     Jon Hansson was born in 1686.¹ He married Christina Gustofsdotter say 1715. He married Britta Persdotter.

     Olof Hansson married Tricitka (?).¹ Olof Hansson was born in 1680. Proof lacking that Olof is brother of Jon except Olof follows Jon in 1756 clerical survey.¹

     Pehr Hansson was born in 1684 at Gräsås, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. He married Maria Månsdotter in 1704. Pehr died on 18 June 1727 at Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.¹

     Ingrid Henricksdotter was born in 1736.¹ She married Olof Nilsson, son of Nils Errsson and Margareta Hallorsdotter, circa 1760.¹ Ingrid Henricksdotter and Olof Nilsson appeared on the church records of Björkhöjden, Bjurtjän Parish, Värmland County, Sweden, between 1769 and 1774. The survey shows that son Niles has died during the period. A son is born in 1770 but dies in 1773. Wife Ingrid has another son Nils in 1774, but both die the same year.²

     Maria Hindrichsdotter married Abraham Fröding, son of Olof Fröding and Ragnilll Eriksdotter, on 9 April 1765 at Filipstad Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.¹ Maria Hindrichsdotter died in 1787 at Philipstad, Filipstad Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.²

     Johan Hinriksson was born in 1683 at Viberg, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. He married Ingeborg Mänsdotter circa 1706 at Mällby, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. Johan Hinriksson and Ingeborg Mänsdotter appeared on the church records of Mällby, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden, between 1728 and 1735. The record shows Johan and wife Ingeborg with children Bengt, Maria, Magnus, Erik, Karin, and Mäns.¹ He married Ingri Jonsdotter in 1738 at Väse, Värmland, Sweden. Johan died on 25 April 1746 at Väse, Värmland, Sweden. His body was interred on 4 May 1746 in the at Church yard at Mällby, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. The story of his life as recorded in the list of deceased: "The 4th of May Jean Hindriksson on Mellby was buried on the church-yard, born on Wiberg, lived with his parents, well brought, learnt to read. Married when he was 21 with the widow Ingeborg Mänsdotter on Mellby for 34 years and got 9 children. he was widower for half a year and then married the second time with the maid ingri Jonsdotter in Melby for 8 years without children. He got ill at Römossen and died at Näs where he had been living a Christian and good life for 63 years.".

     Charles Edward Holmstrom was born on 31 March 1929 at Marshall County, Illinois.¹ Charles died on 21 August 1981 at Marshall Co., IL, at age 52. His body was interred at Swedish Cemetery, Varna, Marshall County, Illinois.

     Erik Edward Holmstrom was born on 17 May 1873 at Oscarhamn, Sweden. He married Augusta Valine on 5 December 1898 at Varna, Marshall County, Illinois.¹ Erik died on 20 October 1954 at Varna, Marshall Co., IL, at age 81. His body was interred at Swedish Cemetery, Varna, Marshall County, Illinois.

     Louis Dewitt Holmstrom was born on 8 January 1900 at Wenona, Marshall County, Illinois. He married Nettie Ekstrom, daughter of Gustaf Karlsson and Helen Brandting, on 19 January 1927 at Varna, Marshall County, Illinois. At Netie's parents home by Karl A. Nillson, Minister of the Gospel, of Varna.² He was a farmer. Louis died on 3 December 1949 at Marshall County, Illinois, at age 49. A local newspaper reported: VARNA FARMER DIES SUDDENLY - L. D. Holmstrom Pinned Under Tractor After suffering Heart Attack. -
Louis DeWitt Holmstrom, 49, who had spent his entire life in the vicinity of Varna, was found dead under his overturned trator near the barn at his farm home east of the community Saturday evening. The discovery was made by his son, Charles, who resides on a nearby farm, and it is believed that death occurred between four and five o'clock.
Examination by a physician revealed that Mr. Holmstrom had suffered a heart attack and apparently lost control of the tractor which overturned, pinning him beneath it. He was home alone at the time.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the home and at 3 o'clock in First Lutheran church, with Rev. J. M. Johnson of Graville, pastor of the Eden township Lutheran church, officiating. Interment will be made in Salem cemetery near Varna. Friend may call at the home until the hour of the service.
The decedent, son of Edward Holmstrom of Vaarna and the late Mrs. Augusta Holmstrom , was born in La Salle county near Wenona Januaary 8, 1900. His marriage to Nettie Extrom occurred January 19, 1927, and they became the parents of three sons. Mr. Holmstrom was a lifelong member of First Lutheran church at Varna which he served for several years as deacon and was filling that office at the time of his death. He also served as a school director for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Kenneth and Vernon, at home, and Charles of Varna; one sister, Miss Minnie Holmstrom of Varna; and a brother, Roy Holmstrom of Flanagan.³ His body was interred at Swedish Cemetery, Varna, Marshall County, Illinois.

     Constance Duane Hubbard was born on 15 February 1935 at Hancock, Stevens County, Minnesota.¹ Constance died on 20 October 1978 at Phoenix, Arizona, at age 43. She was shot and killed during a robbery of her mother's house.. She Connie was murdered in a home robbery. Her mother was seriously wounded.

     Carl Albin Hultgren was born on 10 October 1889 at Hopewell, Marshall County, Illinois. He married Maude Amelia Extrom, daughter of August Magnusson and Caroline Larson, on 3 December 1913 at Marshall County, Illinois.¹ Carl was employed. Varna - Final rites for Albin Hultgren, lifelong resident of Hopewell township, who died at his home following a two months' illness, were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the home and at 2:30 o'clock in the First Lutheran church. Rev. Carl Olson officiated, and vocal selections were offered by Mrs. Carl Olson and Mrs. Lloyd Holmstrom, who were accompanied at the organ by Miss Florence Gustafson. Burial was made in Salem cemetery.

Mr. Hultgren, son of the late Allen and Minnie Hultgren, was born in Hopewell October 10, 1889. He was confirmed in the First Lutheran church at Varna April 3, 1904, by the late Rev. C. A. Petersen and served as deacon for many years. His marriage to Maude Extrom took place December 3, 1913, the late Rev. D C. Lofgren officiating, and they moved to a farm in Hopewell township where he resided for 31 years until his death.
Surviving are his wife and two sons Gordon, at home, and m. Sgt. Milton E. Hultgren, who is stationed near Whitehorse, Canada; his aged mother, Mrs. Minnie Hultgren, two sisters, Miss Ethel Hultgren and Mrs. Bertha Anderson, and one brother, Jalmer Hultgren, all of Varna.²

     She married Alsen Waggerman. Julia died.

     Britta Jamarsdotter was born in 1778. She moved in 1797 to Angersby, Sunne Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.¹

     Mana Jamarsdotter was born on 1 September 1785.¹

     Lisa Jansdotter was born on 29 July 1761 at Mobråten, Nysund Parish, Örebro County, Sweden. She was baptised on 2 August..^1,2 She married Lars Pettersson, son of Petter Petersson and Kerstin Olsdotter, on 26 October 1782 at Nysund Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. Lisa was from Mobråten.³ She moved from her father's home to her step-fathers home in in 1783.⁴ Lisa Jansdotter and Lars Pettersson appeared on the church records of Säfsjön, Nysund Parish, Örebro County, Sweden, between 1798 and 1802. Living with them were their 6 children and Lars parents. Mother Kerstin dies in 1799.⁵ Lisa Jansdotter appeared on the church records of Säfsjön, Nysund Parish, Örebro County, between 1817 and 1821. Lisa continues to reside on the farm.⁶ Lisa died on 3 April 1825 at Säfsjön, at age 63. She was buried on the 10th. Age was reported as 63 yr, 6 mo and 4 da. The age at death should be 63 yr, 9 mo and 4 da old..⁷

     Maja Cajsa Jansdotter was born on 14 November 1850 at Lervik, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. Her father was identified as Henrik Andersson of Norketorp. She was christened on the 17th. Magnus Magnusson and his wife Cajsa Stina were witnesses.¹

     Marit Jansdotter married Petter Persson, son of Pers Segolsson and Kain Nielsdotter.¹ Marit Jansdotter was born in 1718.¹ She died before 1788 at Skavåsen, Ransäter Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.¹

     Anna was born on 22 February 1813 at an unknown place at Säfsjön, Nysund Parish, Örebro County, Sweden. She was christened the following day.¹

     Britta Christina Johansdotter was born at Sweden.² She married Anders Gustaf Swanson at Sweden.²

     Charlotte Gustofus Johansdotter was born on 29 July 1831 at Nysund Parish, Värmland County, Sweden.¹

     Eva Engel Johansdotter died in 1787 She apparently dies soon after birth as there is no record in the household examinations.² She was born on 9 July 1787 at Säfsnäs Parish, Kopparberg County, Sweden.¹

     Karin Johansdotter was born in 1719 at Mällby, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. She married Måns Pehrsson, son of Pehr Hansson and Maria Månsdotter, say 1740. Karin Johansdotter and Måns Pehrsson appeared on the church records of Mällby, Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden, between 1755 and 1759. The record whows Mäns and wife Karin with their four children, Ingre, Ingeborg, Pehr and Maria.¹ Karin died on 6 February 1763 at Väse, Värmland, Sweden. She was 44 years and 7 weeks old at death. She had lived with her parents until 1739. She had 3 sons and 4 daughters..²
