Rena M. Carmo Strickler , 84, of Blairsville, passed away Feb. 7, 2007 at Keeper of the Flame Moorewood, Blairsville. She was born July 12, 1922 in Blairsville, the daughter of Louis and Adalgisa Culatina Carmo.
She was a member of SS. Simon & Jude Church, and the Italian Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Rena formerly worked at Torrance State Hospital.
She is survived by four daughters: Elaine Bazala and husband Joseph, Latrobe; Kathy Hankinson, Blairsville; Adrienne Stiteler and husband John, Latrobe; Goergienne Walters and husband Ben, Indiana; grandchildren: Brian Bazala, Lisa Bazala Erka and husband Borche, Brenda Hankinson Miner and husband Daren, Emily and Nicholas Stiteler, and Benji Walters; great-grandchildren: Brendan, Arianna and Matthew Erka; brother, Renzo "George" Carmo and wife Isabelle, Blairsville; sisters, Norma Pezzi, Blairsville; Esther Bufalini and husband Leonard, Blairsville; and sister-in-law, Sally Carmo, Blairsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband David Boggio in 1958; second husband George "Doc" Strickler in 2000; and brothers Walter and Bunda Carmo.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held today at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral mass will be held Saturday at SS. Simon & Jude Church at 10 a.m. with Fr. Chester J. Raimer officiating. Interment will follow in Blairsville Cemetery.
