Note*   Daniel and Eliza raised a nephew as a foster son, John Willim Gemas. He is found in the 1920 census as John Mitts, 7 years old. In 1930 the couple seems to be separated as Daniel is living in Redstone Twp and Eliza is a house servant living in Pittsburgh. In 1940 Daniel is living with his brother in Georges Twp. and had been since at least 1935. Daniels 1942 Draft Registration did mention Eliza and gave a friend as his contact person.

Daniel was stricken with cerebral bleeding at the age of 58 and died on March 10, 1944. Eliza, burdened with kidney and heart disease at the age of 62, died on April 5, 1954.2
