"I have information on James C. Sodowsky, who was the brother of
Thomas Jacob and Sarah Frances, but the source doesn't give the
date of his birth. His middle name was spelled in two ways,
either Clayburn or Clayborn.
On October 27, 1859, he went to a Methodist Episcopal minister,
Isham Nance, somewhere in Buchanan County, Missouri, and was
married to Matilda Elizabeth Daniel, according to her affidavit.
They had a child, Amanda, delivered by a midwife, November 6,
1861, when she was born in Buchanan County.
At the time the Civil War was in progress. James C. Sodowsky
sided with the Union cause and entered the 4th Missouri State
Militia. He was detailed as a teamster in Company H, in which
he held the rank of Private. In April, 1863, when he was
harnessing his team of mules to a wagon at Warrensburg,
Missouri, one of the mules kicked him in the chest. He was
taken to the post hospital at Warrensburg where he died April
28, 1863."
