In 1704, he still held 490 acres in Petsworth Parish, Gloucester
Co. in addition to his Essex acreage. The Gloucester land was in
the northern part of the county, towards the Piankatank River
and adjacent to Middlesex Co.
On 4-10-1704 he subscribed the Test denying that there is any
Transubstantiation of the elements of bread and wine in the
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. He was Vestryman of South
Farnham Parish, Essex Co., and was recommended as a Justice of
the Peace. He asked on 7-21-1719 for time to consider it, and he
eventually took the oath on 8-18-1719.
The inventory of his estate after his decease included a "parcel
of old books", some of which had been bequeathed to him by his
friend Capt. Leonard Tarrant in 1718."
