Mother: Elizabeth MINOR |
Richard Winn abt. 54 yrs. (1735-1748); Benjamin Winn abt. 21
yrs. (1735),
(This Richard Winn names this Benjamin Winn as his son in a
Caroline Co.Deed).
Caroline Co. VA Court Records 1742-1833 by William Lindsay
Hopkins:
p. 202. Deed of John Martin to Richard Win on 6 Nov 1735 for 200
a. Rachel
Martin wife of John Martin. Recorded 14 Nov 1735
Caroline Co. Order Book 1740-1746 by J.F. Dorman (1973):
14 Mar. 1745/6. Richard Winn acknowledged his deed to his son
Benjamin Winn [p. 577]
Caroline Co. VA Order Book 1746 -1754 Part Two by DORMAN:
p. 3. p. 123.
Court held 9 Dec 1748. The last will & testament of Richard Winn
was presented at Court by Benja. Winn the executor. proved by
Richard Mauldin who declared he saw Robert Durrett witness the
will.
p.11. p. 131 [10 Mar 1748/9]. The inventory of and appraisement
of the estate of Richd. Winn returned.
Gloucester Winn Mystery:
Caroline Co. VA was formed from part of King William Co. Va
among other counties in 1727 and today borders King Wm. Co.
Other Winns who are documented in Caroline Co. Va abt. the same
time as Gloster Winn are: Minor Winn abt. 32 yrs. old (1732
-1735); Richard Winn abt. 54 yrs. (1735-1748); Benjamin Winn
abt. 21 yrs. (1735).
Caroline Co. VA Order Book, 1746-1754, Part one, DORMAN:
p 71. 8 Jul 1748. Bernett a Negro boy belonging to Gloster Wynn
is
adjudged ten years old.
The problem is that most of Caroline Co. VA wills have been
lost. I don't know if Richard Winn's will still exists or not.
If you find any court records that can prove a relationship
between Minor, Gloster (Glocester), Richard, & his son, Benjamin
Winn, I will appreciate it. Richard Winn is definitely the
oldest of these Winn males.
In the collections at the Virginia Historical Society
the following: "1800 Aug 27- King William Co.,Va- Distribution
of the
estate of Gloucester Winn".
