Before the war

He was born in Tioga, Pennsylvania (2, 5, 6, 10). He was born about 1843 (10; 2 (17 in 1865), 5 (33 in 1880), 6 (23 in 1870)). He was born to John Huey Nabal and Elizabeth Campbell (10).

When he enlisted, he was a farmer (2).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair (2).

During the war

He was a substitute (1, 2). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 21 March 1865 (1, 2, 7, 9). He was enlisted for one year, at Williamsport, Pennsylvania, by Captain Blair (2). He was mustered as a private in company H (1, 9, 10, 11-12).

He was discharged by general order on 13 July 1865 (1, 7 [10 Jul], 9). He was a private, in company H (11-12).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Watson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (6). He was working on a farm, and owned $550 in real estate and $150 in personal property (6). He was living with Hugh and Elizabeth Nabal (presumably his parents) (6).

On 19 April 1875, he applied successfully for a pension (3, 7).

In 1880, he was living in Watson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (5). He was a farm laborer (5). He was living with Hugh and Elizabeth Nabal (presumably his parents) (5).

In 1890, he was living in Watson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (4). He had chronic bronchitis (4).

On 2 April 1908, he died (9). On 3 April 1908, he was buried in the Tomb's Run Cemetery, Tomb's Run, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (8, 9, 10). (John H and Elizabeth Nabal are also buried there [see Find A Grave].)

These children do not include Jeremiah, and do not match the children listed in the gedcom (10).
