He was born in 1832/33 (3 (28 in 1861), 4 (28 in 1861)). He was born in Ireland (4).
When he enlisted, he was a laborer (4).
When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6-1/2 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair (3, 4).
He enlisted and was mustered into service, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 19 October 1861 (1, 3, 4). He was enlisted for three years, by Lieutenant Murphy (3, 4). He was mustered in as a private, in company I (1, 3, 6-8).
On 17 March 1864, he was reported enlisted in his company, and arrested as a deserter (2).
In November 1864, he was tried by court martial (5).
According to the Pennsylvania State Archives card, he was transferred from the 118th Pennsylvania on 1 June 1865 (3). However, since he is mentioned in a consolidated morning report from the 91st Pennsylvania in March 1864, this is obviously not right.
He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3, 4). He was a private, in company I (6-8).
