     Joseph Lehman was born in May 1834 at Pennsylvania. He married Leah (?) circa 1856 at Pennsylvania. Joseph Lehman was New Tag Obituary from the 10 Oct 1916 York Gazette:

"DIES SUDDENLY WHILE EATING HIS DINNER

Joseph Lehman, Sr., Was In Apparent Good Health - Died Before Doctor Arrived

HALLAM, Oct 10 - Apoplexy caused the sudden death of Joseph Lehman this forenoon at 11:30 o'clock, whil seated at the dinner table at the home of his son, Joseph Lehman, Jr., in Springettsbury township, with whom he resided. Mr. Lehman was 82 years old and during the forenoon was in apparent good health. He expired before medical assistance could be summoned.

Seated with him at the table were the members of his son's family, and Levi Druck and Wesley Lindsey. The latter two were engaged in laying a cement walk at the Lehman home. While in the act of swallowing a monthful of the white meat of a chicken that formed a portion of the meal, Mr. Lehman suddenly collapsed, and those seated at the table thought he had choked. Efforts were made to relieve him but without avail. He gradually lapsed into unconsciousness and expired within a short time after the attack. Medical assistance was called in but the man was pronounced dead. Coroner Pius R. Jones was summoned and pronounced death due to a stroke of apoplexy.

Mr. Lehman is a native of Springettsbury township, and resided in the vicinity his entire life. In recent years he lived retired with his son, Joseph Lehman, Jr. Surviving him are the following children: Mrs. Milton Ferree and Mrs. Angeline Dellinger, Hallam township; Mrs. William Shenberger, near Wrightsville; Mrs. William Stoppard, Mt. Wolf; Harvey Lehman, Hallam township; Joseph Lehman, Jr., Springettsbury township, and Mrs. Jacob Ruby, Hallam township. One brother also survives. The funeral will be held Friday forenoon at 9 o'clock. Services in the Mennonite church at Stony Brook and interment in the adjoining cemetery."
On 10 October 1916 at York Co., Pennsylvania. He died on 10 October 1916 at Springettsbury Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, at age 82.

Joseph was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census at Springettsbury Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania. He died on 8 March 1924 at York Co., Pennsylvania. He was New Tag Obituary from a 10 March 1924 York Co., Pennsylvania newspaper:

"DIES SUDDENLY FROM ACUTE INDIGESTION

Seized by an attack of acute indigestion shortly after taking a bath about 8:40 o'clock Saturday night, Joseph Lehman, age 58 years, died suddenly at his residence, 415 South Albemarle street. Dr. A.C. Sornzen, 741 East Market street, was called immediately when Mr. Lehman was taken sick, but nothing could be done to save the man's life. The doctor pronounced death to have been due to acute indigestion. The deceased is survived by his widow, two children, George Lehman, Emigsville, and Mrs. Henry Bowers, Manchester; three step-daughters, Mrs. Elmer Coxen, East Walnut street; Miss Annie Gruver and Miss Dorothy Gruver, both at home, and the following brothers and sisters: Harvey Lehman, Wrightsville; Mrs. Luther Ferree, Stony Brook; Mrs. John Dellinger, Hellam; Mrs. Thomas Deocert, Wrightsville; Mrs. Jacob Ruby, Hallam and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, leaving the house for Mt. Zion church, where further services will be held, and burial made in the adjoining cemetery."
