Obituary* | say 23 July 2017 | Bonnie Harbour Culpepper, 87, passed away July 22, 2017 in Rome, Georgia. She died peacefully at home. Bonnie was born May 13, 1930 in Meridian, Mississippi. She graduated from Meridian High School, where she was a drum majorette. Bonnie married the love of her life, Clyde (“Buddy”) Culpepper in 1947. His outgoing, exuberant personality perfectly complemented Bonnie’s quiet demeanor. They were married for forty-eight years and were completely devoted to each other. They were blessed with four children. Buddy’s airline career took the family to Charlotte, NC, Houston, TX, and finally to Atlanta, GA. In her later years, Bonnie worked at the BB&T Bank. She often mentioned how privileged she felt to work with the wonderful people in her office. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Buddy and her son Craig. She is survived by her daughter Kathy; her son Greg, and his wife Lee Anne; her daughter Julie, and her husband Rick; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Bonnie was a kind, caring person who provided comfort and reassurance to many. To her family she was known as Bobba, and everyone adored her. She had a special gift of empathy that enabled her to form a close relationship with every person in her life. Her hospitality was legendary; an excellent cook, she always managed to include everyone for dinner, even unexpected visitors. Her playful, good-natured sense of humor lifted everyone’s spirits. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Bonnie’s memory be made to the American Heart Association.2 |

On another occasion, while trying to eject, his catapult would not release. His jet went into a nose dive and he lost consciousness for a moment before controlling the jet and landing safely.
