WYATTS OF VIRGINIA
GEORGE WYATT, (11-2), of Middle Plantation and Gloucester Co.,
Va. b. 1622 in James City Co., Va., went to England with his
parents in 1625, was reared and educated there; returned in his
youth to his native land, and was one of early settlers of
Middle Plantation; he patented lands at Williamsburg in 1642;
was a "cooper" by trade; was a supporter of the Established
Church; m. Susannah _____, and had among other issue:
12-1. Henry, of New Kent Co., Va., b. 1647; patented lands in
Henrico Co., Ca., in 1679; and near Chickahominy Main Swamp, in
1682; was a supporter of the Established Church and Vestryman of
St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co. in 1686; m. Alice _____ and
from them are descended the Wyatts of Louisa and Albemarle,
among which were Capt. Richard, who served with distinction in
the Continental Army; he m. Nancy Ware; he was born in 1762;
died in 1845, at the home of his daughter Anne, who married
Sammuel A. Guy, of Louisa; they were the parents of John Henry
Guy of Richmond.
Capt. Richard was also the father of Col Richard Wyatt, of
"Clifton," Albermarle Co., and they were the parents of many
children, among whom were the gallant Confederate soldier,
Richard O., who served as assistant surgeon from 1861 to 1862,
when he dies of pneumonia; and of Capt. James Walter, of
Albermarle Artillery, from 1861 to 1864, when he was killed in
the Battle of Cold Harbor, Jan. 3, 1864;
Henry and Alice (_____) Wyatt were also the ancestors of Col.
John S. Mosby of Confederate fame, and of Mrs. Belle (Wyatte)
Willard, wife of Lieut. Gov. Willard, of Virginia.
