land beginning at Jenets Road (Genito) at Battonwood (sic)
Creek, thence up river (Appomattox) to Fighting Creek, to
William Clay's, thence down Clay's path by Edward Watkins to the
beginning. (In 1748 this area became Cumberland Co., VA)

dated 28 Sept. 1730.
*Thomas Lockett, Junr., son of William Lockett, and nephew of
Thomas Lockett, Senr. Thomas Lockett, Junr., by his will 8 Sept.
1770, left this land to his son Abner Lockett.
1749 - May 20 - He bought 400 acres bothy sides Harris Creek,
adjoining Lockett's corner & line. Grantor: Thomas Williamson.

1750 - May 18 - He sold 690 acres N/S N. Fork Falling Creek,
adjoining Randolph, Venable & Harris Creek. Grantor: Thomas
Lockitt, Jr. (also Lockett) of Cumberland Co. Grantee: William
Campbell. Possession taken by Campbell anfter Eliz. Lockett
rellinquished her right of dower.
1764 - Feb. 16 - He bought 100 acres N/S Flatt Creek, for £80.

1770 - Will of Thomas Lockett
"In the name of God-Amen-I, Thomas Lockett of the County of
Cumberland being sick and weak of body but in perfect mind and
memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and
form following-to wit.
"Imf. I give and bequeath to my son Stephen Lockett all my said
land in Prince Edward County on the South side of Harris Creek
to the main road to him and his heirs forever.
"Item-I give and bequeath to my son Abner Lockett the land
whereon I now live to him and his heirs forever-
"Item-I give and bequeath to my son Jacob all my land on Nut
Tree branch in Chesterfield County to him and his heirs forever,
if he shall arrive to the age of 21 years, if not I desire the
land to be sold to the highest bidder and the money to be
equally divided amongst all my children, as also I give him 15
pounds of current money, one feather bed and furniture, a horse
bridle and sadle, of ten pounds value.
"Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Bass, all my
land on the north side of Harris Creek from the cross line of my
son Stephen to the upper line, to her and her heirs forever.
"Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Stone all the land
on the South side of the North fork of Falling Creek as also
twenty acres of the North side beginning at the cabin line,
thence up the creek to include the twenty acres to her and her
heirs forever.
"Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Lockett one
feather bed and furniture and fifteen pounds current money.
"Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Gipson one feather
bed and furniture and fifteen pounds current money.
"Item- I give my well beloved wife Judith Lockett thirty pounds
current money, if she will relinquish her right of my estate.
It is my desire that all the land I hold in Prince Edward County
not already willed away be sold and the money equally divided
amongst all my children except James Lockett.
It is further my desire that all the rest of my estate of every
nature and kind whatsoever both real and personal be equally
divided amongst all my children, that is to say James, Stephen,
David, Abner and Jacob Lockett, Martha Bass, Lucy Stone, Mary
Gipson, Elizabeth Lockett.
I also desire my estate may not be appraised and lastly I do
constitute and appoint my son Stephen Lockett, Abner Lockett and
Arthur Moseley executors of this my last will and testament
hereby revoking all other wills by me formerly made. In witness
whereof I have
here unto set my hand and affixed my seal this Twenty-eight day
of Semptember Anno dom, one thousand seven hundred and
seventy.":

Bio #9962: William Woodford came to Clark County, Ky., with his
wife and six children: Mary (deceased), John, Samuel, William,
Lucy and Thomas, after their arrival in Kentucky two others were
born, Sally and Madison. All reside in Bourbon County except
Samuel, a prominent farmer of Clark County, and Madison, a
prominent physician of Harrison. The two daughters were married
to cousins, William T. and William Buckner.
