---------Colby, Della (4 FEB 1890 - 10 SEP 1985)
Della Colby, 95, formerly of Loyal, Clark County, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 10, 1985 at the Morrow Nursing Home where she had resided since 1975.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. Rev. C. Arlene Denzer officiated. Pallbearers were Neil Johnston, Clyde Grambsch, Celen Gotter, Everett Gehrt, Byron Zepplin, George Zuehlke, Jr.
She was born Feb. 4, 1890 in Viroqua, Wis. to Andrew and Betsey (nee Matson) Olson. She graduated from LaCrosse College and in 1928 the Methodist Church Mission Board sent her to do school and church work in malaya, near Singapore. She was there for 25 years, building schools, educating and training the people. She returned to Loyal in 1952 and married James Colby on Dec. 6 at Viroqua.
She is survived by one step-son, Richard Colby, Nashville, Tenn. one step-daughter, Mrs. Virginia Anderson, Athens one brother, Charles Olson, Viroqua two sisters, Mrs. Mable Jackson, Sparta, Mrs. Lillie Campbell, Eau Claire five step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her husband, James Colby in 1968 four brothers, three sisters and two step-grandchildren.
