  1. Obituary -- Winnie Frances Thompson McGhee -- Published in the PEOPLES BIBLE ADVOCATE, Long Beach, California, pg. 16. September 1, 1936.
McGHEE--Winnie Frances Thompson born in Mountain Home, Ark., March 6, 1882, resided there all her girlhood life and was married in the same community March 3, 1901, to J. E. McGee. To this happy marriage twelve children were born, nine of whom now live to mourn the loss of a kind Christian mother. Namely, Mrs. Ruby Jones, Payette, Ida., Mrs. Ova Blackstone, Hermiston, Ore., Mrs. Edna Chandler, Eden, Ida., John, Cecil, Ellis, Elmer, Harry and Mae, all yet single and reside at home. Three children died in infancy.
On March 7, 1912 she moved with her family to Eden, Idaho and with the exception of about 20 months spent in Arkansas in 1918 and '19, the family has made the vicinities of Eden and Jerome their home. In the year 1898 at the age of 16 she yielded her heart in obedience to her Lord and was added to His church. From that date until the day of her death she never ceased to strive to please her divine Master. Not only as a Christian, but as a kind hearted wife and mother she did her part nobly and well. No sacrifice was ever too great within the power of her physical strength to make for the welfare of her children. She set before them the example of a noble, consecrated life. Truly she has fulfilled the virtuous requirements of a devoted motherhood. As a Christian she was kind, humble, sympathetic and helpful. She believed in throwing the mantle of charity over the faults of the erring and with kindness and grace assist them in the better way. Not once did her faith in God and her Saviour waver, but with unfaltering trust she looked to her Lord for strength and to the home of the soul for her everlasting reward for her labors and sacrifices. When the end was anticipated, she never faltered nor feared, but was strong in her confidence that death would give her an abundanat entrance into the everlasting kingdom of her Lord.
On July 11, she underwent an operation at Wendell. But on August 5, she quietly and peacefully left the afflicted body and went to be at home with God. Truly, she now "rests from her labors." We cannot call her back, but we can go to be with her. Blessed hope! May we all strive diligently to imitate her faith and example and meet her on the other side in the soul's sweet home.
The above obituary was read at the funeral service in the funeral parlors in Jerome, Sunday p.m. Aug. 9th, after which the writer spake words of comfort and consolation from the Father's word. The beautiful floral offerings which covered her casket and grave spake eloquently of the high esteem in which she and the family were held. The body was laid to rest in the beautiful Jerome cemetery.-----J. C. Bunn.
