From the 2002-2003 President, The Society of the War of 1812 in
VA.
Aylett was a Lt Colonel during the War and commanded the 16th
Regiment of Militia in Spotsylvania. The Regiment was active
during 1813 and 1814. In 1814 he commanded his unit along the
Chesapeake Bay area as part of General Madison's Brigade. He
conducted joint operations with his unit with the militias of
Stafford and Caroline counties and served with his Regiment
under General Hungerfords command in Alexandria. Seventeen
Companies served under his regimental command. Capt. Curtis
Waller's Company was one of these companies which was called to
action July 22-August 17, 1814 and from August 17-25, 1814. His
company consisted of 74 men.
