Robert was taxed in Fayette Co. KY from 1803 until his death. He was in the mercantile business working for his brother-in-law, William Leavy, and in 1806 was made a partner. Later he erected a three story birck building as a dwelling house and store, and sent to Philadelphia goods to stock the store. His health failed and he went to Philadelphia for treatment, but he made no improvement, and died in 1823. Benjamin Dudley his bondsman on his marriage license was also his physician as well as that of his relatives.


Robert left no will. An inventory of his estate was made in 1826, Book G, p. 321; A Divison was made 1828, Book I, p. 152, and settlement was made in 1830 Book K, Fayette Co. KY.
