Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 3-1/2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, light eyes, and light hair. [sources: 8 (5'3-1/2"), 9 (5'4")]

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service as a private, on 4 December 1861, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Gilbert. He was a private in company A. [sources: 8, 9 (mustered in as corporal), 10, 18, 19, 20, 21]

He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg. [source: 17]

On 23 August 1863, Private Brumley returned to duty from corps headquarters. And on 26 August 1863, Sinex reported that Arthur Bromley had been on duty as Provost Guard at Corps Headquarters, and had returned. I assume this is Arthur Bloomley. [sources: 3, 5]

He was promoted to fifth corporal, on 1 October 1863. [sources: 4, 6, 7]

He was mustered into service as a veteran volunteer on 26 December 1863, at Bealton, Virginia. [sources: 1 (original enlistment as vet), 2 (original enlistment), 9, 10]

He was wounded on 18 June 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia. [source: 1]

After the war

In 1890, he was living in Maurice River Township, Cumberland County, New Jersey (post office Heislerville). He had lost a limb. [source: 10]
