Johann Heinrich "Henry" Nicodemus was born circa 1758 at
Weisseichenland, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. He was the son of
Johan Adam Nicodemus and
Maria Christine (?). Johann Heinrich "Henry" Nicodemus married
Susannah Greenwood, daughter of
Phillip Greenwood, circa 1780. Johann Heinrich "Henry" Nicodemus was land contract on 1 September 1795 at
Frederick Co., Virginia; Henry Nicodemus purchased for 392 pounds, 280 acres from John Goose. Goose had obtained the land on 1 May 1770 from John McGinnis. This land adjoined the 447 acre plantation previously owned by Johann Adam Nicodemus, Henry's great uncle. He was deed on 15 March 1802 at
Frederick Co., Virginia; According to Frederick Co., Virginia Deed book 27, page 594, on March 15, 1802, Henry Nicodemus of Frederick Co., Virginia gave Anthony Spangler, trustee for Philip Spangler of Shenandoah Co., Virginia a mortgage for 160 pounds at 6% due 15 March 1803. Henry Nicodemus acknowledged the indenture at Frederick Co., Virginia on 6 September 1802.

Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio; Sometime prior to 1817, Henry Nicodemus moved his family to Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio, where many records in land deeds, Job's Cemetery and other records can testify to that family's presence there. Henry adopted the English spelling, Nichodemus, and some of his descendants continue with it up to 1900. Johann was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census at
Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio. He left a will on 24 April 1829 at
Fairfield Co., Ohio; Henry Nichodemus wrote his will on 24 April 1829 and it was witnessed by Thomas Morton, V. Donaldson and James Grubbs. Henry's will was presented to the court for probate on 24 April 1835. Susannah, wife of the deceased, relinquished her dower on 25 February 1835. Johann was probably a free white male, age 70 and under 80, in an unknown person 's household, on the 1830 Census at
Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio. He was listed as a church elder at
Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio, on 8 May 1833. He died on 6 February 1835 at
Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio. He was buried in February 1835 at
Job's Cemetery, Fairfield Co., Ohio.
