Bertha Maria Klump was the seventh child of August and Anna Klump. She was born on February 27, 1861 on the Klump farm near New Ulm, Texas. She was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church of New Ulm on August 29, 1864. She spent her childhood on the 220 acre Klump farm near New Ulm and went to the New Ulm school.
In 1881 or 1882 she married Franz Krause. Franz was also from New Ulm. On March 22, 1883, Bertha Mathilda Klump, her first and only child was born. On May 20, 1883 at just 22 years of age Bertha Maria died. The cause of death, whether from complication from the birth of her child or other reasons, will probably never be known. She is buried in New Ulm. Franz remarried and had several more children.
Bertha Maria Klump�s lineage ended on October 30, 1920 when Laura Mieth her granddaughter, Bertha Mathilda�s only child, died at 18 years of age.
