Emilie Klump was born September 30, 1855 in New Ulm, Austin County, Texas to August and Anna Klump, she was their third child. Very little is known about Emilies early life. She was baptised at the Trinity Luthern Church in New Ulm on Septermber 18, 1858. She spent her childhood on the family farm, which was a 220 acres parcel with a large house, near New Ulm. She went to school in New Ulm. How many years of formal eduction she received is not known, but according to census records she was able to read and write. It is quite probable that she was fluent in both German and English. In 1878 she married Roman Blaschke, the son of Wensel and Mary Blaschke. The Blaschke family had immigrated from Austria in 1869 and settled in Austin County. Roman was born February 1840 and was fifteen years older than Emilie. According to current research Roman and Emilie had nine children. Their first child was Edmund who was born November 21, 1878. Followed by, Lucy in 1880, Roman Jr. in 1881, Louis in 1882, Bernhardt in 1884, Martha in 1887, Arthur in1890, Alexander in 1892, and Mathilda in 1899.
The Blaschke family farmed in the small Cleveland community between Cat Spring and Sealy, Texas. Emilies husband Roman died in 1907 leaving her to make her own way. It was not long after her husbands death that due to the infirmity of old age her mother Anna Klump came to live in the household. Emilie cared for Anna for nearly twenty years, having to feed her by spoon for much of those two decades. The 1920 U.S. census shows that Emilie was the head of the house and her son Edmund, her daugher Martha, her grandsons Richard and Alvin, and her mother Anna Klump were part of the household. The 1930 U.S. census lists the Blaschke household being composed of Emilie, Edmund, Martha, and Anna Klump. Nothing else is known about Emilies life. Emilie died on December 14, 1937 and is buried in Cat Spring, Texas next to her mother Anna Klump.
