     Ernst Klump was born December 19, 1968 in New Ulm, Austin County, Texas. He was the tenth child of August and Anna Klump. He was raised on the Klump farm in New Ulm and he and the family lived their until January 1883 when his father August gave the farm to his oldest son William. The rest of the family moved to Greenvine in Washington County. Ernst married Emmma Aurich of New Ulm on December 14, 1894. Emma was the third child of Otto and Wilhelmine (Korth) Aurch.
     Ernst and Emma settled in Greenvine and their children were born there. Otto was the oldest, then Herbert born January 10, 1897, then, Hilma Wilhelmine born August 2,1898 and Elvira born in 1905. Otto died young. Grief strickened at the loss of her son, Emma wanted the family to move. So in about 1906 or 1907 the family moved to Schoenau and began farming there. This information comes from Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Oeser. According to the records of the Helvetia Singers, Ernst Klump became a member in 1909. The Klump children attended Schoenau School.
     Hilma married Charlie (Carl on his birth certificate) Sommerlatte from near Columbus in January of 1917. They had one daughter, Ora Nell, born in Schoenau. Later they moved away for awhile, and then came back in 1924 to make their home in just across the Fayette County line with part of the property in Fayette County and part in Austin County. The part in Austin County was also in Schoenau. Hilma died on February 2 1940, at the age of 41.
     Herbert Klump married Lillie Roski, a sister to Pauline married George Giebel. They made their home in Schoenau, where he did farming. Their children are Roy who was a surviving twin, Eldred, Violet, Lawrence, Laverne, Frances, Glen, and Vernice May. Herbert made his home in Schoenau until 1956, when, because of poor health, he moved to Columbus to live with his son Lawrence. He died November 20, 1961 at Youens Hospital in Weimar of an interal hemorrage, after being a patient there overnight.
     Elvira, the youngest daughter, married Davey Rinn and they lived on the Klump place where the parents lived. Their children are Marcine, Gloria, and Calvin. Elvira contlhued to live on the family farm for awhile after Davey�s death, then moved to Industry where she stayed until her death in 1982.
