b. 29 July 1830, d. 10 February 1913
Last Edited=7 Jul 2004

Jane Edmiston was born on 29 July 1830 in Pennsylvania.2,3 Her name has also been given as Edmonson.1 Jane married Jacob Milslagle, son of Jacob Milslagel, on 6 May 1849 in Fulton County, Illinois.4,1 He was about 30 years old and she was about 18. Jane and Jacob had 8 children. These children are Levi Richard, George W., Sarah, Charles Henry, Cordon Findley, Edward, Margaret and Mary.
Jane, age 30, was enumerated in the household of suspected sister-in-law, Cathrine, and brother-in-law, George Willard, on the 1860 Federal Census for the Canton Post Office in Buckheart Township, Fulton County, Illinois. Also living there were Jane's two sons: Levi (age 3) and George, age 1. I have not located Jacob on this census yet. I do not know why he was not with his family.5 Follow the link to see the census image.           Jacob, age 51, and Jane, age 31, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census for the St. David Post Office in Buckheart Twp. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Levi (age 13), George (age 10), Sarah (age 9), Henry (age 7), Cardin (age 4), and Edward (age 2). This is 10 years younger than I'd expect for Jane but Jacob's age agrees with the dates I have for him. Jane is not able to write.6 Follow the link to see the census image.           Jacob, age 58, and Jane, age 47, were enumerated on the 1880 Federal Census in Oakland, Schuyler County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Charles (age 16), Corden (age 14), Edward (age 12), Margaret (age 8), and Mary (age 4). Their three eldest children (Levi, George, and Sarah) are not living in the home. Levi has his own household but I do not know if George and Sarah are still living. This will take additional research. Jacob is unable to read or write; Jane is unable to write.7 Follow the link to see the census image.           Jane, age 78, was enumerated in the household of her daughter, Sarah, and son-in-law, Jonathan Babb, on the 1910 Federal Census in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County, Illinois.9 Follow the link to see the census image.
