Marriage* | 10 April 1904 | James Alexander Spencer married Mary Fisher on 10 April 1904 at Netherton, Coromandel; Orange Blossoms. SPENCER—FISHER A very pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr Fisher, Netherton, on Monday afternoon last. The contracting parties were Mr James Alexander Spencer, thiid son of Mr Spencer, chemist, Rotorua, and Miss Mary Fisher, eldest daughter of Mr Amos Fisher. The Rev. Me Arthur, of Taeroa, was the officiating minister. The bride looked charming, and was dressed in a stylish flowered white silk trimmed with pin tucks, chiffon, and white silk lace stole ends, and with handkerchief sleeves; the skirt being made with pin tucks and a shirred flounce. She also wore a coronet of orange blossoms and a lovely veil, the corners of which were beautifully embroidered with sprays of Marguerites. The bridesmaids were Miss Mabel Fisher (sister of the bride) and Miss E. Wyatt (cousin of the bride) and they both wore dainty dresses of cream cashmere with pink silk sashes. Both bride and bridesmaids carried lovely bouquets, the bride's being of white chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern, and the bridesmaids of white cosmea , and maiden hair fern, and streamers of white ribbon. Mr Amos Fisher, jr. (brother of the bride) performed the duties of best man satisfactorily, while Mr Joel Fisher (cousin of the bride) attended as groomsman. After the ceremony some sixty guests set down to a recherche wedding breakfast, the bride's cake, a three-decker, being the centre piece. The following toasts were duly honoured: "Bride and Bridegroom," " Bridesmaids," "Bride's Parents." The happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful presents. Mr and Mrs Spencer left in the afternoon (amidst showers of rice) by the Waimarie, route for Auckland.
