Peter Shock was born February 5, 1800, and died near Rockford, Mercer County, Ohio, November 13, 1895, aged 95 years, 9 months, and 8 days. He was mrried to Miss Mary Boyd, April 22, 1827. To this union were born eleven children, 4 sons and 7 daughters, all of who are living except one. There are 80 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. Brother and Sister Shock embraced religion about 40 years ago under the labors of Rev. Alexander Conklin, and joined the Church of the United Brethren in Christ at honey Run Class, Elida Circuit, Auglaize Conference. Their house wasa home for the weary itinerant for many years. One month ant twelve days before the departure of Father Shock, his aged companion was called from labor to reward. Each became blind a few years prior to their death, but their spiritual eye-sight was clear. When the division of the church came and our Liberal brethren moved out with their new colors, father and mother Shock chose to stay with the old church under the old flag, and died in faith. By request, the funeral services were conducted by the writer at Fountain Chapel, M. E. Church, in mercer County, Ohio, after which his body was decently buried by the side of his companion in the cemetery near by, to rest until the sounding of the trumpet at the last day. We expect to meet them in heaven. Wm. Miller
