This is only possibly our William, because there is a three year difference in his age'*

     Reuben Hilton Reed was born on 30 October 1884 at Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England; and his birth was recorded in the December quarter 1884 at Newport Sub-District, Isle of Wight Registration district.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Reuben Reed and Mary Deborah Russell Chalker.1 Reuben Hilton Reed was baptized on 21 December 1884 at Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England.6 He appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at Bowcombe, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England, as Son, age 6, birthplace Isle of Wight, Hampshire, and he was a Scholar.1 He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at The Bays, Bowcombe, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England, as Son, age 16, birthplace Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, and he was a Worker, and, like his father, a 'Horse Gelder (Stable).7' He was listed in 'Kelly's Directory of Hampshire & Isle of Wight, 1911' as follows: 'Dairymen ... Reed Reuben, Carisbrooke, Newport, Isle of Wight.8'

He appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at The Bays, Bowcombe, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England, as Head, age 26, single, birthplace Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, and he worked on his own account at home as a Contractor. His nephew (Hilton) Edgar Cham and a House Keeper completed the household.4 He married Mary Amelia Weeks, daughter of George Henry Weeks and Jane Fowler, in 1912 at St Andrew, Chale, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England; and their marriage was recordeed at Isle of Wight Registration district in the June quarter 1912.9,10,11 Reuben Hilton Reed and Mary Amelia Weeks lived on 29 September 1939 at Hunter's Way, Calbourne Road, Newport, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England; where they were on the 1939 Register, when he was a Farmer.5 Reuben Hilton Reed died on 20 February 1959 at Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England, at age 74; and his death was recorded at North-West Isle of Wight Registration district in the March quarter 1959, at age 74.12,13 He was buried on 25 February 1959 at Carisbrooke Cemetery, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England; with his Wife and he was a Farmer.14 His estate was probated on 29 June 1959; and Administration (with Will) was granted at London Registry, England.
