for Love & Affection toward the children of Malachi Sanders
otherwise called Murfee: Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Sarah, James, and
Morris (Maurice), the following negroes, Dick, Judy (Dick) Ben
Shade George & Merideth. when they reach the age of 21.
This apparently was to satisfy a judgement obtained against the
said Malachi Murfee in his lifetime by a certain Naomi Thomson
(Thompson) otherwise and afterwards called Naomi Moore, wife of
Ezkiel Moore, for the payment whereof the said Claudius Pegues
in his lifetime became responsible or in some manner liable.
The negroes in the meantime to remain under the care and
direction of Mary Sanders otherwise called Mary Murfee, Malachi
Murfees widow. Note that Mary was also a Pegues! Signed 11 June
1802 and recorded 1 July 1902.
The negro Shade was given to James Johnson and Sarah his wife in
the division of the negroes listed above. 7 March 1807.
Nathaniel Murfee signed for himself and Claudius Rawls. Mury
Murfee signed for herself and Morris Murfee & James
Murfee.Virginia Pegues Lidwin quotes from the SC Gazette for 14
July 1784
"Married in the Cheraws District Mr. Malachi Murphy to Miss
Polly Hicks, daughter of Col. George Hicks of the same place."

"Francis Walker, son of Wm. Walker was a native of Ireland: -
born and resided in the county of Donegal, where he was married
on the lst day of August, 1769 to Rebecca Laird, by whom he had
11 children. On the ________1795, his wife, Rebecca died, and on
the 22nd day of February 1797 he was again married to Sarah
Hetrick. About this time, he took part in the Irish Rebellion,
which threatened his life: but on the 11th day of August in the
year of 1800 he and his family landed in the United States.
There was born to him by his second wife, Sarah Hetrick 3
children; and on the 17th day of July 1831, Sarah, his wife died
in Buckingham County, where they had resided for many years: And
on the 21st day of January following 1832, he died, being 88
years old, leaving behind him six living children out of 14..."
