Isaac Robertson was living in King William Parish in 1744 and
arrived in Amelia by 20 September 1745 when he secured a patent
to 400 acres on the upper side of Buffalo River in what is now
Prince Edward County. He and his son of the same name paid taxes
in Amelia County from 1747 until 1753 when Prince Edward County
formed. They were in St. Patrick’s Parish, Prince Edward County,
in 1763.
Isaac Robertson died in Prince Edward County [1 Dec 1759 / 17
Nov 1766]. His wife, Anne, was still living and he left to her
his 100-acre home plantation so long a she did not marry. Isaac
held at his death land in Henrico and the 400 acres he got in
1745. He had many carpenter tools at his death so, like his
posited brother, he may have been a carpenter. The several
Robertsons who married in Prince Edward County in the latter
half of the 18th century were likely descendants of Isaac.
Descendants of Isaac and Ann (—) Robertson:
John Robertson [1600.R3.1] inherited 133 acres on the James
River in Manakin Town. It was likely this John Robertson who
bought 100 acres on Rices Branch from Edith (Marot) Cobbs of
Amelia 13 August 1757. When he sold the land to Thomas Womack 14
March 1758, his wife, Amy — , relinquished her dower right.
Isaac Robertson [1600.R3.2] inherited 100 acres on Mill Creek
where he was living. He was in a household of five in 1783 and
four in 1785.
Alexander Robertson [1600.R3.3] inherited the 100 acres on which
he was living but did not appear in Prince Edward County in
1785.
Jesse Robertson married Susannah Jones in Prince Edward County
11 March 1777. Surety was Alexander Robinson. Jesse Robertson
was living in Prince Edward in a household of five in 1783 and
in 1785.
Thomas Robertson [1600.R3.4] (8 Oct 1736) inherited 100 acres if
he had heirs, otherwise the land would go to Isaac Peak, Isaac’s
grandson. Thomas contributed to the Revolution and was living in
a household of four in 1783 and in 1785.
Zachariah Robertson [1600.R3.5] inherited the home plantation
after the death of his mother. He was a constable of Prince
Edward County until David Tyree succeeded him in 1770 and served
in Capt. John Morton’s Company in 1781. Zack was paid for
herding cattle during the Revolution and was living in a family
of seven in 1783 and three in 1785.
Diane Robertson [1600.R3.6] (25 Mar 1739).
Lucy Robertson [1600.R3.7] (15 Mar 1741/2).
Magdalene Robertson [1600.R3.8] (15 Mar 1741/2) was twin to
Lucy."
