Crow and Nancy Roberts.1 Margaret M. Crow married Green Berry Lambert, son of Berry B. Lambert and Martha Adcock, in 1872 or 1873 at Pike County, Alabama, According to the probate records on file in the Pike County, AL courthouse in Troy, AL Margaret was the wife of Green Lambert. They are also listed in the 1880 census of Ward 5 of Natchitoches Parish, LA. I am making the assumption that they were married in Texas, probably in Palo Pinto, County, as there is no record of their marriage in the Pike County, AL records.2 Margaret M. Crow died on 19 April 1922 at Eunice, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, at age 68.2 She was buried after 19 April 1922 at Reddell Cemetery, Reddell, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana.2 She was probate The distribution of the crow land in Pike County, AL on 5 June 1877 at Office of Clerk of Court, Troy, Pike County, Alabama, were also named in the probate.3

The Crow family and the Roberts family -- Nancy's birth family -- were adjacent to each other. Also the youngest son seems to be given the name of Andrew B. The family Bible gives it as Albert B.1 Margaret M. Crow resided in the same house as an unknown person and Nancy Roberts in 1870 at Milo, Pike County, Alabama; Page 364 in the 1870 census for Pike County Alabama. In the 1870 census John and Nancy with their children were living in house number 22 in the Milo community. They had assests worth $700 and had real estate valued at $600.5 Margaret M.      Clara Lambert was born in 1878 at Palo Pinto County, Texas, The 1880 census of Ward 5 of Natchitoches Parish, LA gives her age as 2 years of age which would place her birth year as 1878. Her state of birth is given as Texas and since we know from other evidence that Nancy and Berry lived in Grande Ranche, Texas before coming to Louisiana we must assume that is where Clara was born. Her birth must have been just before the move to Louisiana because her sister Ella is listed as born in Louisiana.2,3 She was the daughter of Green Berry Lambert and Margaret M.      In the 1860 census for Pike County, AL the first name seems to be spelled Andrew instead of Albert; This is the way the name is given in the 1860 Federal Census.1 The Us 1860 listed Albert Bradford Crow in addition to Nancy Roberts, John C. Crow and Margaret M. Crow in the household of W. L. D. Crow, in the Eastern Division, Milo, Pike County, Alabama; W. L. The Crow family and the Roberts family -- Nancy's birth family -- were adjacent to each other. Also the youngest son seems to be given the name of Andrew B. The family Bible gives it as Albert B.1 The Us 1870 listed Albert Bradford Crow in addition to Joseph W. Gibson, Alice R. Gibson, James M. Gibson, Nancy Roberts, Fannie Augustus Gibson, Margaret M.      Berry B. Lambert was born on 30 December 1822 at Alabama.2 He was the son of Isaac Buck Lambert and Ellenor Thompson. Berry B. Lambert married an unknown person in 1846 at Pike County, Alabama.2 He married Nancy Roberts, daughter of Jesse Hancock Roberts and Margaret McCorkle, on 2 May 1874 at Erath County, Texas, The ceremony was performed by M. J. Morton, L. M. One curiosity in the marriage license, which I located in the archives of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Erath County, Texas, is that the marriage date given is earlier than the date on the issuing of the License itself. I speculate that M. J. Morton was a circuit riding minister who showed up before they had the license, so they went ahead and had their religious service. Afterwards they went to Stephenville, secured the license, and the next time Bro. Morton was back in the area he filled in the date of the service and then filed it the next time he was in Stephenville, which was 12 Feb. 1875.3,4,2 Berry B. Lambert died at near Robeline, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, I have been unable to find the records on the death of Berry Lambert. Since he purchased land from his father in 1886 I know he died some time afer that date. According to family history he died sometime in the 1890s, but I have been unable to verify the time of his death or the place of his burial. Since his widow, Nancy Roberts Crow Gibson Lambert, is buried in Central Cemetery near Robeline, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana I assume he was buried there as well.5
Berry B. Lambert resided at Milo, Pike County, Alabama, in 1860.5 He and Nancy resided at Grand Ranche, Palo Pinto County, Texas, in 1875 There is a certified letter return receipt on file in the probate records of Pike County, Alabama saying that Nancy and B. B. Lambert lived in the community of Grande Ranche, Texas which is no longer in existence. According to a letter I have received from the United States Postal Service in Washington, D.C., there was a Grande Ranche Post Office in Palo Pinto County, Texas. This Post Office was established on March 10, 1876 and was discontinued on February 1, 1881. Palo Pinto is the next county west of Parker County, of which the County Seat is Weatherford. Tom Crow, my granddaddy, used to talk about being a cowboy in Texas. Aaccording to the recollections of some of my siblings the family came down the Red River to Louisiana.
According to the recollections of some of the other siblings they traveled the road between Fort Gibson and Shreveport, Louisiana. I would think they probably used the wagon road. According to an article on Old Roads by Allen Ramsey in the book History of Palo Pinto County Texas, Grande Ranche was south of the present day community of Santo in southern Palo Pinto County, Texas.6,7 Berry B. Lambert and Nancy Roberts were Named in the record of the sale of Crow land in Pike County, Alabama to the eldest son of W. L. D. Crow and Nancy, John Crow, who evidently remained in Pike County, Alabama when the rest of the family leftfor Texas.Margaret Crow Lambert, Nancy and W. L. D.'s daughter, also signed the document. The witness was a man by the name of Isaac Taylor. The Justice of the Peace who executed the document in Palo Pinto County, Texas Precient 4 was William E. Wade. on 7 March 1877 at Justice of the Peace Office in Palo Pinto County, TX, Palo Pinto, Palo Pinto County, Texas.8 Berry B. Lambert purchased land on 20 November 1879 at Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, For the sum of $1.00 Isaac Lambert sold a tract of land to Berry B. Lambert, his son. It consisted of a portion of the North half 1/2 of the Southeast quarter 1/4 of Section 6, Township 8, Range 9. Commencing at the North East corner of said land as described above and running west to the north west corner of said land thence south so far that a line running east one quarter of a mile thence north to the place of beginning, will include thirty acres more or less.9 He and Nancy Roberts resided at Ward 5, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, in 1880.5 Berry B. Lambert is head of household in the Us 1880 of Ward 5, near Robeline, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Enumerated with Berry B. Lambert was Nancy Roberts, Charles Lambert, Mae C. Lambert and Alice Gibson.10 Berry B. Lambert purchased land in 1886 at Ward 5, near Robeline, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, He purchased the land from his father, Isaac Lambert, for the nominal sum of $1.00.11
