Before the war

He was born in 1829/30 (2 (31 in 1861)). He was born in Carlon, Ireland (2).

When he enlisted, he was a carpenter (2).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5-1/2 inches tall, had a light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair (2).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service in company E for three years on 21 August 1861, at Philadelphia Pennsylvania (1, 2, 9). He was enlisted by Captain Lentz, and mustered into service by Colonel Reiff (2).

He was wounded in action at Chancellorsville, Virginia (2, 5, 7 [wounded in hand], 8 [hand]).

On 8 September 1863, he was a nurse [?] at Haremont Hospital, Washington, DC (4).

He was transferred in October 1863 to the veterans' reserve corps, because he was unfit for field duty (1, 2, 3). When transferred, he was a private, in company E (9).

After the war

On 22 April 1874, he applied unsuccessfully for a pension (6).
