My family is also Surrett. I have been working on a family tree for awhile now and found that most of them were born in MO.
My great grandfather was Millard Fillmore Surrett and my grandmother was Etta Mae Surrett.
If anyone one has any information about this branch of Surrett's it would be much appreciated.

Paul,
I am just now getting involved in tracing my lineage. I have found that my grandfather, James Columbus Seratt(e), appears to be the son of John W. Seratt and Susan Cravens from Crawford, AK. [sis AR.]
Tracing back it appears Joseph L. born 1665 France died 1715 in MD, is his g-g-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather (Joseph, Samuel, Samuel, Allen, Tyre, John, George, John W., James Columbus). Do I have my information correct?
By the way, the graphics(?) do not come up on your website.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Glenda Plummer, E-Mail: [email protected]
Glenda,
Thanks for the E-Mail
We believe, your Grandfather is J. C. "Lum" SERATTE, (1881-1965) he does descend from the French Progenitor, but we have a different lineage.
(See J.C. Lum's Profile!)
Which Graphics don't come Up? let's us know the URL and we can fix.
We would like any additions/corractions to this family, ..prs

On your site I see that you don't have any thing in his line past him. I can fill this part in for you. Lonnie Surrett married Ethel Davis (I am having trouble tracing her past her father John Davis. I have seen photos of him and know he was probably full native american. Ethel would not claim this.)
Lonnie & Ethel had one son Lonnie Earl Surrett b. June 23,1912 & is still living (Anderson, Ca.) Lonnie Earl Surrett married Tressa Mitchell (Weatherford, Texas) in Tx. They produced 3 children.

First I would like to thank you for all the information that you have provided. It has filled in many of the blanks. I would lik to know if you have any suggestions as to how we can research more into the back ground of William Sanford Sarret. Is there any ideals of who his first wife might be? I am also wondering as to the FGN # listed next to the names of some of the family members.
Ans: Thanks, for the kind words, my mother told me some time ago that "Sharing" was part of Genealogy, thats what I have been trying to do.
I now believe (Not Proven) Wm. S. SARRETT 1st wife was Mary "Leney" PRATER/PRATOR See Wm. S. 's FG#2499.
FGS = Family Group Sheets, each family has a unique FG Number.

My connection is that I am the great great grandson of James O. Surrett son of Cicero Green Surrett. I noticed that you have a FGN # next to his name. Is there another site that I can look at for additional information? Or is this just a reference for your records. You list his wife Lori Potts, it is my understanding that her name was Luella Potts, could she be related to the Margaret Elizabeth Potts who married John William Surrett?
Ans: See State Family Index at:
SFA-AL Index SFA-GA Index
Don't know on the POTTS family....prs

I was reading the email that you cc to me in answer to Amos Surrett and in some of your answers you refer to see Cicero Green Surrett FGS # 717. How do I find this? I have looked but I don't think I am looking in the right place.
      Ans: See URL's above!
Id have information that I am trying to pull together and send to you. I am sorry that I am so slow. I should have it soon. Again thatk you so much for the information that you have provided . I also wanted to mention that I thank that you web page is really good. Look forward to hearing from you.

I know that you are probably thinking that I am the biggest pest that you have had contact with. I have tried for several hours to figure out the FGN #'s for the Surratt's or Surrett's. I do appreciate the information that you have provided. I just can't seem to locate the information at your site. Such as the information that you provided on James O. Surrett. I can find the information regarding Cicero Green and William Sarrat, and Sanford, but I can't seem to locate for anyone else. I have tried the URL's that you provided and it gives me the same family members. I would like to be able to look at the other family members. You show a + next to the names of Charles O. and Minnie L. children of James O. with the + showing more information. Minnie L. is my great grandmother and lived with my family for several years before her passing. I guess I just can't figure out how to get to this information, like I said I tried the URL's that you provided me but it did not give me additional information. I would like to know more information about the children of William R. Surrett as I believe that some of his decendants may still live in Oklahoma, they may have additional information. Any help that you can provide would be great, and I will try to figure this out without bothering you to much.
Thank you, Terry, [email protected]
Terry,
Terry, do to the magnitude of the SFA files, some 40,000+ records not all are on the Net!. Some main persons FG are on the Net. and can be found in the State Indexes.
The + is yes I have more information, and will be shared by E-Mail's. Before, I share any more information, please help me with the missing (Unknown's & Not Traced!) in my last E-Mail to you regarding James Oscar SURRETT family.
Then we can proceed to others family members such as Wm. R. SURRETT, etc.

I hope that the information that I am providing will help. It just seems that you have so much more information that I have. If you can think of anything else that I can send you let me know and I will work on it. Any information that you can provide would be appreciated. You will see what I do and don't have after you read the attachment. The last email that I sent regarding information about the children of Cicero and the children of James O. My name is Sherree and My Mother was One of the Tommie Surrett's Twins, Pearlie and Gracie.
I ve always been told that they were born in Cloudy [Unknown County, Oklahoma] Ok. Pearlie's father name was M C Wolf(MACK) He was also supposedly from Cloudy or Rattan [Pushmataha County, Oklahoma] Ok.
I went to the cemetery in Clyde [Callahan County, Oklahoma] Tx where he is buried and if I found the right grave the DOB shows to be 1889-1975.
Everything I can find on Mack Wolf shows him born in 1889. But! the marriage lic. shows Mack Wolf being 22yr and Tommie Surrett being 18yr and both being from OK and Married Rattan [Pushmataha County, Oklahoma] Ok June 4th 1916 ???
Your records show that Tommie died when she was 17yr in 1916. I m confused! Could I have the wrong person. My uncle, Henry Wolf was born 1917. Pearlie and Gracie were born 12/24/18. Pearlie stated that her mother Tommie Surrett died giving birth to her and Gracie. I m having problems confirming the DOB, the Day of Death on Tommie Surrett when you look at the age on the marriage Lic and the Date of Death on Tommie Surrett. Thanks for any help you can give me .

Subject: [OKPUSHMA] Re: Shinn - McCarty connection
Message Board URL: Message #351.1.1.2
I believe that my McCarty comes from my grandmother Myrtle Irene Boggs who married Henry William Shinn in 1920. I have been trying to connect with Willie Shinn though.
My grandfathers siblings were Rena E. Shinn who married a Henry Sanders in Coal County, Oklahoma OK, Charley Shinn and he had two half brothers Joe Bailey B? and Frank B? His mother was Mary Shinn ? 3/8 Choctaw. Father William Shinn died in 1900 or 1901? I did see this info somewhere and saved it for possible connection:
Martha Penelope4 McCarty (Javan McVay3, William M.2, Jacob1) was born January 08, 1870 in ,Pike County, Arkansas, U.S.A., and died November 25, 1910 in Antlers, Pushmataha County, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, U.S.A.. She married Willie Shinn 1890 in ,Pike County, Arkansas, U.S.A..
Child of Martha McCarty and Willie Shinn is:
814 i. Eunice E.5 Shinn, born December 1892 in ,Pike County, Arkansas, U.S.A.. She married John Surrett February 20, 1910 in Antlers, Pushmataha County, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, U.S.A..
Maybe there is still a connection? through my Boggs line I'll check..... If you have any other Shinn names (family of Willie Shinn) let me know. Thanks for your reply

Dear Paul,
I am a descendant of Tyre Seratt and Susannah Miller, through their son John. I've come up against a thorny problem that I hope you will help me with.
John Seratt was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth "Delila" Ridennour. His second wife was Nancy Ann Lane. My great grandfather, Joseph S. SERATT, was one of John and Nancy's children.
Of all of John Seratt's children, (other than Joseph S. and Polly Ann) I have conflicting data that I can't sort out. I don't know which children were Delila's and which were Nancy's. I think I might have some of Delila's children listed under Nancy. I need your expertise on this. Please help!!!
