  • Daniel Brewer was probably born circa 1738 Glastonbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut.2
  • "Probable son of Benjamin Brewer and his wife Phyllis Parsons." He has not been positively identified as a son. His inclusion here is based upon a study of land records regarding land he owned at a place called Five Miles near Hartford.2
  • He married Sarah.1
  • Daniel Brewer owned the covenant at the East Hartford Church on 12 Jan 1765, and his son was baptized there the following month.2
  • Daniel Brewer was a Revolutionary War soldier. And applied for a pension at Hartford on 29 May 1818, stating his age as 77 and his residence as East Hartford where he had enlisted. He states that three of his sons had enlisted with him and all had died in service, one at Stony Point, one in the attack on Fort Griswold, and the third on a prison ship.3
  • He died on 4 November 1823; "aged 85."2
  • He was buried Spencer Street Cemetery, Hartford, Connecticut.2

  • He was baptized on 13 June 1731 Portland (originally East Middletown), Connecticut.1
  • "Although definite proof has not been found, it appears that Daniel was almost certainly the father of the son of Ann Vansant baptized at the Portland Church 14 July 1751 as Daniel Brewer. The Portland Church records note that Ann 'confessed and was restored' at the Portland Church 16 June 1751, and the child was baptized there a month later.3
  • He married Ruth Strickland Middletown, Middlesex Co., Connecticut, on 9 January 1752.3,4
  • Daniel Brewer "confessed and was restored" to communion in the Portland Church on 18 May 1753. He owned the covenant there over a week later. His wife Ruth's name does not appear in the church records, and a record of her death has not been found. The Portland Church records do include the deaths of four of Daniel's children.3
  • Daniel Brewer was a Revolutionary War soldier. Served as a Sergeant.2
  • He probably died on 11 April 1788 Connecticut (death recorded by the Portland [Connecticut] Church).5
  • The placement of Daniel Brewer as a son of Daniel Brewer and Ruth Strickland is taken from Genealogy of the Descendants of Samuel Penfield (1963) page 14. No explanation is given for this placement. Descendants of Thomas Brewer, Connecticut to Maine (1996) does not show this relationship.1,6

Daniel Brewer1

  • Daniel Brewer was baptized on 14 July 1751 Portland Church, Middlesex Co., Connecticut.1
  • He was the illegitemate son of Anna Van Sant, presumably, by Daniel Brewer for whom he was named.
  • He married Abigail Risley circa 1772.2
  • He is probably the Daniel Brewer of East Hartford who on 3 July 1777 purchased from Timothy Risley of Hartford, four acres at Hartford, bounded west on the land belonging to the heirs of Nathaniel Risley, deceased, south on land pf Moses Risley, and north on land of the heirs of Jonathan Hills. There were a number of other deeds between Daniel Brewer and members of the Risley family, and on 6 Feb 1786, Ann Van Zant of East Hartford quit claimed to Daniel Brewer of the same place, about three acres there, bounded on the south by her own land. In a deed recorded 11 May 1810, Anna Vanzant deeded to Daniel Brewer, two more acres in East Hartford.3
  • Daniel Brewer and Abigail Risley were members of the Congregational Church, Hartford, Connecticut, on 2 October 1802 joined by profession of faith. On 17 Sep 1804, Daniel Brewer was on a church commitee to supply poor families with Bibles.4
  • Daniel Brewer died on 28 December 1830 East Hartford, Connecticut; "aged 80."2
  • He was buried Hockanum Cemetery, Hartford Co., Connecticut.2

  • David Brewer was born on 24 November 1776 Tinmouth, Rutland Co., Vermont, age 68 at death (g.s.).3,4

  • "David Brewer, from Tinmouth, was among the early settlers. He began the farm on Missisquoi river where that stream enters Berkshire from Richford, and on which those much esteemed people, Mr. Samuel B. S. Marvin and his family, now reside. Mr. Brewer was long an active and useful town officer, chiefly as first constable and collector, and was afterwards for many years an efficient and trustworthy deputy sheriff, being widely known and respected in that capacity. He finally removed to Enosburgh where he died, leaving behind him several sons and daughters, all much respected and valuable people. One of his sons has represented that town in the legislature, and is among its most exemplary, wealthy and leading citizens" (Vermont Historical Gazeteer vol.II).6
