          Uriah married Maria Fertick, daughter of John Fertick.1 Uriah and Maria had at least 7 children. These children are Margaret E., Sarah J., George W., Caroline R., Martha A. V., Eliza F. and Mary Ann.7
          Uriah, age 31, and Maria, age 34, were enumerated on the 1850 Federal Census in District #24, Hampshire County, Virginia. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Mary Ann (age 7), Margaret (age 5), Sarah (age 3) and George (age 5 months). John Fertick, age 75, also lives with their family. He is Maria's father. Uriah and John are unable to read or write.8 Uriah worked as a farmer.           Uriah, age 42, and Maria, age 44, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census in Smith's Gap, Hampshire County, Virginia. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Mary Ann (age 17), Margaret (age 15), Sarah (age 13), George (age 10), Caroline (age 8), Eliza (age 5), and Martha (age 1).9 Uriah worked as a farmer.           Uriah, age 62, and Maria, age 64, were enumerated on the 1880 Federal Census in Cabin Run, Mineral County, West Virginia.
