To my beloved wife Elender Gibson during her natural life the
tract of land whereon I now live, with the household and kitchen
furniture _ and one Negro man named old Simon. After her death
the aforesaid property shall be sold and equally divided between
my four sons, viz,
William, John, George, & Thomas Gibson.
Further, to my wife Elander Gibson during her life four other
Negroes, viz, old Peg, Silvy, Binah, & Jane, and after her death
they shall be divided, and two thirds be given to James GOTEA,
John GOTEA, & Jane McKnight formerly Gotea, children of John
Gotea deceased. The other third to be equally divided between my
four sons, viz, William, John, George, and Thomas Gibson.
To my son William Gibson, Jim(?) & young Simon.
To my son John Gibson, Cate & Philles.
To my son George Gibson, young Peg & Sam.
To my son Thomas Gibson, Jack and Mary.
To my stepson John GOTEA, 400 acres to be taken out of the east
side of the tract whereon he now lives.
The rest of my estate to be sold, and after paying debts to be
equally divided between my beloved wife Elender Gibson and my
four sons _ which said legacies I allow to be paid to the
respective legatees as they come of age. My beloved wife Elander
Gibson, executrix, and John Gotea, William Gibson, Alexr
McKnight, Hugh McCutchen, executors. 21 Nov. 1817.
His Will is dated Nov. 21, 1817. The beneficiaries were his
wife, Elander; sons, William, John, George, Thomas, James; and
his stepchildren, John and Jane Gotea, children of John Gotea,
deceased.
Executors: his wife, Jane Gotea, William Gibson and Alexander
McKnight and Hugh McCutchen. Witness: Jane McConnel, Mary
McConnel, and William Hitch.
Appraisemnt made by: William Burrows, James McConnell, and
Alexander Scott. p 223. Williamsburg Co SC.
