I have the honor to request that the enclosed Copies of Communications be forwarded as an explanation for the Absence of Wm E Reiff from Corps Hospital City Point
It will be seen that his [crossed out: t (at beginning of 'his')] name does not appear on the order of detail from Corps Hd Qrs and that Lieut. Reed was so informed by my note to him of 13th Augt--why he persists in reporting this Soldier detailed but not reported" is a matter of surprise to me

Company Commanders are hereby notified that the regular Monthly Inspection will take place to morrow at 2 O'clock PM They will be careful to have their Streets thoroughly policed to beyond the R.R. bank. Attention is called to Pp. # 116.125. 126. 171. 220. 234. 235. 236. 253. 256. 257. 782. 996, 1027. 1167 Army Regulations, and the 29th Article of War The "A.B.I. call notice to the, [sic] in some instances that but little restraint is had on the Committal of Nuisances in and around Company grounds," Officers will see that the above is strictly complied with
