 St Stithians

My name is Michael Bath. I'm the Online Parish Clerk for St Stithians. Though I'm a third generation Canadian my antecedants spent about two centuries living, working and dying within the boundries of St Stithians and had been present in Cornwall from the early sixteenth century. As others have been so generous in assisting me in tracing my lineage I hope to give something back by helping others.

Marriages and burials are now complete to 1900 from the existing, legible registers. As of Oct. 2009 baptisms are completed to 1900. As of Dec. 2009 baptisms and burials from 1676 from the Bishop's Transcripts have been added. I'll continue to add further information as it becomes available.

Should you have a story to tell, questions to ask, or information to relate, about St Stithians and its ancient residents, please feel free to write. I'm particularly looking for old photos to add to the Photo Gallery.

Feb. 8, 2009 - Belerion books has announced the release of 3 CDs, "The Martin Family of Stithians in Cornwall", "Stithians Families 1" and "Stithians Families 2", by Edward Martin, the renowned genealogist.  This body of work details the lineages of the major families of Stithians, including the following names:

Martin, Bath, Bishop, Dunston/Dunstan, Gill, Morton, Odger, Pearce, Penhalurick, Reed, Spargo, Andrew, Coode, Knuckey, Oppy, Phillips, Polsue/Polzew/Polsew, Sarah, Trelease, Trevena, Treweek, Veale, White, Williams, Winsor and many other names of people who married into these lines.

Together they comprise an indispensible resource for anyone doing family research in this parish. A must have!!
