....Mrs. Bauman died Saturday (Jan. 3, 1981) at the health care facility.
The Rev. Harold J. Knappe will officiate. Friends may call at Carlisle Funeral Home today from 7-9 pm. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Bauman was born Jan. 22, 1897 in Michigan City, to Theodore and Anna (Rachow) Last. From 1937-1945 she lived in Lafayette, Indiana at the Soldier"s Home, where her husband was Commandant. In 1915, in Michigan City, she married Irvin C. Bauman, who died in 1968.
Surviving are a son, Miles Bauman, Greenwood, IN.; two daughters, Betty Jones, San Antonio, TX.; and Margaret Peterson, Long Beach, Ca.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Pagels, Lakeland, FL. Two sons are deceased.
Mrs. Bauman was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, The Vivians, and the Spanish American War Veterans Auxillary. She was elected in 1950 to serve one year as national president of the Spanish American War Veterans Auxillary, with offices in Washington, D.C. The family requests memorials be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

WINIFRED V. RUNGE, 79, a former Michigan City resident, died Wednesday (May 19, 1993) at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington (KY).
The funeral will be at 1:00 pm Saturday at the Root Funeral Home (Michigan City, IN). Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery (Michigan City, IN)
Friends may call from 6-8 pm Friday and from 11:00 am Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Runge was born July 21, 1913 in Hoopeston, IL., the daughter of Andrew D. and Alice E. Fawbush Bischoff. She was married to Lester Runge, who died Sept. 8, 1979.
Surviving are two daughters, Violet Powell, Lexington, and Vivian Stahl, Plant City, FL; eight grandchildren, William Sanders, Cindy King, Sandra, Tim, Scott and Daniel Sanders, Kevin Kroening and Craig Stahl; seven great-grandchildre, one sister, Dorothy Cizewski, Michigan City; and one brother, Robert Bischoff, Michigan City.
Mrs. Runge was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church's building fund.

LaPorte --- RICHARD SALZER, 82, died at 10:30 pm Tuesdat (July 3, 1990) at LaPorte Hospital. The funeral will be at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, at 1:00 pm Saturday. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-9 pm tomorrow and until the service Saturday.
Mr. Salzer was born Dec. 7, 1907, in LaPorte, the son of Julius B. and Ida May Jackson Salzer. On June 30, 1929, in Michigan City, he married Lois Bunton, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy Wood, LaPorte; one son, Richard Salzer, Knox; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Ethel Heise, Lottie Lewis and Helen Curtis, all of LaPorte; and Florence Carmer, Elwood, IN.; and one brother, Donald Salzer, Arkansas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Cancer Fund.

LaPorte---The funeral for LOIS L. SALZER, 83, will be at 11:00 am Thursday at the Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte. Mrs. Salzer died at 6:15 pm Sunday (Jan. 24, 1993) at LaPorte Hospital. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 pm Wednesday and Thursday until the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Salzer was born Sep. 6, 1909, in Michigan City, the daughter of Frederick and Blanch Welch Bunton. On June 30, 1929, in Michigan City, she married Richard E. Salzer, who died July 3, 1990.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Lee Wood, LaPorte; one son, Richard L. Salzer, Knox, IN.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Dorothy Dettman, Kirkwood, MO, and Noreen Spears, Michigan City; one brother, William Bunton, Michigan City; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Community Heart Association.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm EDT Friday. Cremation will take place.
Mr. Johnson was born March 4, 1947, in Oak Park, IL. On Feb. 26, 1970, in Chesterton, IN., he married Sharon Jones, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Kirsten and Jennifer, both at home; his father, Melvin Johnson, Michigan City; and one sister, Nancy Krach, Weatherfield, Conn.
Mr. Johnson was an auto shop teacher and had taught at Lakeshore High School, Stevensville, MI., and New prairie School, New Carlisle. He was a 1965 graduate of Elston High School (Michigan City, IN), received his bachelor of science degree from Ball State University, and his master's degree from Western Michigan University. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. The family suggests memorial contributuins be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service or the Boy Scouts of America.

Lafayette, IN --- C. BRYAN SORGE, 97, died at 4 am Tuesday (July 26, 1994) at Heritage Health Care Center in Lafayette, IN.
A memorial service will be held at 9 am Saturday at St. John's Espiscopal Church, Lafayette. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Sorge was born April 10, 1897, in Michigan City, the son of George and Anna Novak Sorge. On July 8, 1920, he married June V. Benso, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Dennis Sorge, West Lafayette, IN., Marlowe Sorge, Colorado Springs, CO., Monroe Sorge, Phoenix, AZ., and Elliot Sorge, Easton, MD.; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Mr. Sorge was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a 75 year member of the American Legion. He was in the US Army Rainbow Division during WW L. He taught ballroom dancing in Michigan City for several years before moving to Lafayette. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Episcopal Church.

TREVA G. THOMPSON, 93, Michigan City, died at 9:20 pm Friday (April 26, 2002) at Michigan City Life Care Center. The funeral will be at 11am Tuesday at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel (Michigan City) with the Rev. William Fine officiating. Entombment will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gerdens, Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum.
Visitation is scheduled for 4 to 8 pm Monday, and 10am Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thompson was born Jan 30, 1909 in Epson, IN, the daughter of Lela Jane Wislon, who is deceased.
On July 22, 1930, in Vincennes, IN, she married Roy Thompson, who preceded her in death on April 10, 1986.
Survivors include one son, James (Kathleen Cummings) Thompson, Michigan City; four granddaughters, Linda (Robert) Sobecki, Michigan City, Sue (Erich) Weyand, Gowanda, New York, Jane (Tighe) Curran, St. Joseph, MI, and Karen Janiga, Valparaiso, IN; nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Doris (Joe) Smith, Vincennes, and one brother, Herman (Ethel) Wilson, New Albany, IN.
Mrs. Thompson was a home-maker. Her husband and son were owners together of Thompson's Barber Shop, Michigan City. Her family remembers Mrs. Thompson as a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Memorial contributions may be made to the van fund at the Life Care Center activity department.
