Mrs. Bauman was born Jan. 22, 1897 in Michigan City, to Theodore and Anna (Rachow) Last. From 1937-1945 she lived in Lafayette, Indiana at the Soldier"s Home, where her husband was Commandant. In 1915, in Michigan City, she married Irvin C. Bauman, who died in 1968. Surviving are a son, Miles Bauman, Greenwood, IN.; two daughters, Betty Jones, San Antonio, TX.; and Margaret Peterson, Long Beach, Ca.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Pagels, Lakeland, FL. Two sons are deceased. Mrs. Bauman was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, The Vivians, and the Spanish American War Veterans Auxillary. She was elected in 1950 to serve one year as national president of the Spanish American War Veterans Auxillary, with offices in Washington, D.C. Mr. Sorge was born April 10, 1897, in Michigan City, the son of George and Anna Novak Sorge. On July 8, 1920, he married June V. Benso, who survives.
