Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr. p. 41-42 Wiley Burnett Pack 335 Clerk of Court Office. Abbeville SC, Abbeville Dist. Filed 15 Dec., 1858. "In Equity, To the Honor: Your oratrix Jane Burnett, the wife of Wiley Burnett, by Isaac Kennedy her father and next friend. Your oratrix in the month of Nov. 1851 in this District intermarried the said Wiley Burnett, she a widow with three children, and owned a small tract if land. At her marriage to Burnett he was without property, except a horse. Within the first year of her marriage, her husband was whipping a negro and she interceded, when he ceased whipping the negro and whipped her. In the year he whipped her severely, leaving upon her person the marks of the blows. He is now avowed his intention to leave her, taking her property with him, he has sold some of he personalty with a view of removing from these parts. She now has 7 negroes, to wit: Junia about 18, Jim about 16, Bill about 13, Martin about 11, Orange about 9, Mary about 6, and infant named Henry about 3. The property worth about $5500. She has been informed that her husband has given a note for $600 on the said Negroes. Filed 15 Dec., 1858."

However, he evidently did not leave her, as they are living together in 1880. In 1880 his sister Eliza (afflicted) was living with him as were his dau. Fannie and William Ward. Also living in the household was Ella Fulton age 8 - grandaughter. Who's child is she? Maybe that is where possibility of her married name being Fulton? I have no info. on that.
