     Charles Elias was born in 1922 at Middlesex, England; and his birth as Charles Elias was recorded at Edmonton Registration district in the March quarter 1922.¹ He was the son of Henry Elias and Agnes Marcella Swann.¹ Charles Elias Mother changed his name to Swann as recorded in The London Gazette:

The engagement is announced, and the marriage will take place shortly in Toyko, between Mr. Peter Charles Swann, M.A., of Oxford, son of the late Henry Swann and of Mrs. A. Marcel Swann, and Elizabeth, younger daughter of Canon and Mrs. H.A. Haydon, of St Nicholas's Vicarage, Warwick.³' Charles Elias married Elizabeth Haydon after 22 April 1952 at Tokyo, Japan.³ Charles Elias was a contributor to the Tombs and Mural Paintings of Ch'ing-Ling. 'Peter Swann has been Director of the Royal Ontario Museum since 1966. He came to Toronto
from the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford University where he was the Keep of Eastern Art. Under his
direction, the galleries were transformed into an outstanding show which the Times of London
remarked, at its opening four years ago, sets an example of excellence for British Museums.
Previously, Mr. Swann was retained by Princeton University to install its Eastern
collections. He restarted and has been editor of Oriental Art, the largest publication in the
world of its kind, for fifteen years.

'Mr. Swann entered Oxford University in 1939 on a history scholarship, but left the
following year to join the Royal Navy. He volunteered to study Japanese and was so successful that
he was sent to Washington where he became head of an Anglo-American naval intelligence translation
bureau.

One of his hobbies is building houses - he has built three so far in Oxford.
Mr. Swann has many outspoken ideas about the needs of the Royal Ontario Museum and its
importance to Canadian life. "Given the necessary backing," he claims, "we will make it the pride
of the continent."

'Because of limited facilities, only one-seventh of the Museum's collection is on display
and office space for the staff of 260 is desperately short. It needs massive support to fulfill
its obligations to Canada and the world. The ROM is recognized as Canada's greatest museum noted
for excellence in many departments, both science and arts. Its Asian section is of special interest

He was the author of Art of China, Korea, and Japan in 1974.^14,15 He was the author of A Concise History of Japanese Art - A general survey of Japanese art, including textiles, ceramics, and calligraphy as well as more traditional forms, explores the cultural and religious influences that have shaped its development in 1979.⁷ He recounted in Spirited Commitment: The Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family Foundation published in 2010 by Roderick MacLeod, Eric John Abrahamson. After he was a Director of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), he was hired as the executive director of the Bronfman family foundation.^16,17,18

     Joseph William Hickin was born on 30 June 1908 at Staffordshire, England; and his birth was recorded at Wolverhampton Registration district in the September quarter 1908.^1,2,3 He married Muriel Olga Elias, daughter of Henry Elias and Agnes Marcella Swann, in 1964 at Warwickshire, England; and their marriage was recorded at Sutton Coldfield Registration district in the June quarter 1964.^1,4 Joseph William Hickin died on 4 February 2004 at Hampshire, England, at age 95; and his death was recorded at Bournemouth Registration district in February 2004.^2,5

      Harold Edward Theodore Mansfield was also known as Harold Theodore Edward Mansfield.^3,4,5 He was born circa 1896. Plus his address 45 St Johns Park Mansions, Pemberton Gardens, Upper Holloway, N.19.^5,4 He married Miriam Elias, daughter of Charles Elias and Sophia Woolf, in 1917 at Surrey, England; and their marriage was recorded as Miriam or Myra Elias and Harold E Mansfield at Chertsey Registration district in the September quarter 1917.¹ Harold Edward Theodore Mansfield and Miriam Elias were divorced in 1922; and The National Archives, Kew, London, contain 'Divorce Court File: 2102. Harold Edward Theodore Mansfield was married to Kathleen Mary Veronica Reavey at Marylebone Registration district in the September quarter 1924.^6,3 He died on 24 January 1942; 'on war service' in the Pioneer Corps during the Second World War and is recorded on The Commonwealth War Graves Commission website as Lieutenant Harold Theodore Edward Mansfield, Service number 111450.^7,8 He was buried at Bradford (Bowling) Cemetery, Yorkshire, England; in Section P, Grave 1020. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission provide the following historical information: 'Military hospitals were opened in Bradford in both wars and many of the 151 scattered First World War burials in Bradford (Bowling) Cemetery were from the 1,200 bed Bradford War Hospital.
