"PEYTON DAVISSON was born in Johnson County, Indiana, June 20, 1829. His father, HEZEKIAH DAVISSON, was born in Virginia in 1780, and his mother, HANNAH (BRISTOL) DAVISSON, in Kentucky, September 29, 1796. The famly moved to Illinois when PEYTON was quite young, where he went to school and worked on the home farm until 1848, when the family returned to Indiana and located in Jasper County. In 1856, PEYTON came to this township and went into business as cabinet-maker, undertaker and dealer in household furniture at Francesville. October 18, 1860, he married NANCY JANE COMSTOCK, who has borne him four children - EMELINE, July 18, 1861; MARY C., April 2, 1867; HETTIE, November 18, 1872 (now deceased), and ROSA IRENA E., April 4, 1874. Mr. DAVISSON's grandfather was a soldier throughout the Revolutionary war, and died at the age of one hundred and four; HEZEKIAH DAVISSON was a soldier of the War of 1812, and August 15, 1862, PEYTON DAVISSON enlisted in Company G. Ninth Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and fought at Perrysville, Kentucky, at Stone River and in various skirmishes. He was taken ill at Readyville, Tennessee, and was confined in a hospital nearly a year; was transferred to the invalid corps and remained with it until discharged, January 5, 1865; he then came home and resumed his business. 1.) Daniel was exiled to the Colonies having been taken prisoner by Cornwell's army in the victories over the Sotch Covenanters during the Scotch Covenanters during 1650-1651.

2.) He was exciled to the Massachusettes Bay Colony.

3.) At age of 20 in 1650 Daniel entered the Scottish Conveners Army.

4.) After being captured by the Cornwell's army, Daniel was sent to the Massachusettes Colony, possibly to Hammersmith, Massachusettes, to serve his indenture after being sent there from England and as a result at his capture by the English at the battle of Dunbar. Exactly where Daniel spent his indenture is unknown but prior to 1657 Daniel is located at Wenham, Massachusettes on the Daniel Ridge farm.
