Burr Harrison progressed from an indentured servant, to an
overseer, and from there to a tenant. Finally Burr acquired land
of his own along the Chopawomsic River, in what is now Stafford
Co. This land would remain in the Harrison family at least the
next 150 years. Except for those noted to have moved away, this
Harrison family remained in northern Virginia, in the area of
what is now the counties of Stafford, Prince William, Fauquier
and Fairfax.
An Exact copy of entries made in the Vestry book of Bettingen
Parish and taken from the register of Overwharton Parish upon
which some of this history is based.
"Burr Harrison, now or late of Chappawamsick. In this Parish and
County son to Cuthbert Harrison was babtised in the parish of
Sant. Magraretts Westminister the 28th day of december 1637 as
by Certificate from under the hand of Thomas Wiver Registerer
for the said parish to me did appeare." Richard Gibson
This record taken from St. Margarets, Westminister and certified
by Richard Gibon, London England, Meades Old Church. The cost of
arms brought over by the family was the same as Harrisons of
Acaster:
'AZ, three demillions, ramp, crest; a demi lion ramp holding a
laurel leaf, vert.
It is said, The Harrisons of America that were from the
Presidential line and signers of the Declarations Of
Independence were cousins of Burr Harrison. Their names were
Thomas, Richard, Benjamin, and Nathanial.
"Thomas the son of the said Burr Harrison was born Sept the 7th
day of 1665 and departed this life on the 13th day of Aug at 2
o'clock in the morning 1746.
Burr Harrison the son of the said Thos. Harrison was born may
the 21st 1699.
Thomas the son of the said Burr Harrison was born March the 3rd,
1723.
Jane the daughter of the said Burr Harrison was born the 9th day
of december, 1726.
Seth the daughter of the said Burr Harrison was born the 30th
day of November, 1729." [S27] [S26] [S932]"

From GenCircles, Snow and Hawkins Families,
http://www.gencircles.com/users/bobsnow1/2/data/6 816:
"He was a justice of Stafford Co., VA in 1698 and sent by the
House of Burgesses on an embassy to the Piscataway Indians in
1699. He likely died between 1709 and 1721, for which time no
records are available.
A 1739 deed describes that he left 200 acres on the north side
of Quanitco Creek to George, Burr and Thomas Calver "alias
Harrison." The tract was the one he received after marrying
widow Mary Mansbridge.
Stanard states that in 1700, Stafford Co.VA records included a
request by Burr HARRISON to be appointed guardian to the
children of Edward SMITH, he having married the widow who was
now deceased. In a Stafford deed dated 8 Dec 1701, Burr HARRISON
of Stafford conveys to James BLAND of St. Mary's Co, MD, 600
acres in Stafford.
On Oct 1702 Burr HARRISON as guardian of William, Edward and
Katherine SMITH, children of Edward and Lettice SMITH, and
grandchildren of Ann SCARLETT of Stafford, and refers to
the sale of land to George MASON. This info has been attributed
to his father and namesake in other genealogies.
Speculation that Burr Harrison was the father of children
through a woman named Calvert, as three men were named George,
Burr and Thomas Calvert alias Harrison. The Calvert family was
Catholic, Harrison Puritan. Even if Burr's second wife was dead
when (if) such an affair occurred, marriage would not have been
likely. Descendants include Calvert, Colvert And Colbert, and
many took the name Harris. A woman named Sarah Colbert or Sarah
Colvert was in Prince William Co. about this time."
